i know every personality type in previous games have all pulled from the same pool of interactions, but it feels like in new horizons it's a much, much smaller pool than previous games. i like interacting with my villagers, but it gets tedious when they all say the same things, or only give me a single box of dialogue before going back to their business. i can't find anything via google, so i was wondering if anyone's made a mod before that restores some dialogue from previous games in new horizons?

Not yet that I know of, but I feel like it will come at some point. It would be pretty awesome if someone added personality conversations from older games. Imagine a mod with Wild World and New Leaf pool of interactions in NH. I think that addition would make NH literally 3 times as good for villager interaction. The problem is, that sounds like a ton of work to create.

That would be nice indeed. Unfortunately, like you said, easier said than done.

I want to try and create a mod like this so bad, I’ve never created a mod before and honestly have no clue where to start but I want to try so I can bring some life back into my interactions with my villagers :-0

How about a mod that adds a 5G Cellphone tower, transmitting Chat GPT through radio waves into animal's brains and thus their dialog becomes AI generated, conversations tailored to your Nintendo Switch play history and YouTube view history. 🤯 As an added bonus, early supporters will get a free tin foil hat. 😂

I think most of the mods for the game are simple graphical replacement mods. I'm not sure the game has been decomped enough to do the text stuff?

Yeah, I'd love some new dialogue. When you play the game for X amount of hours, what they say gets repetitive fast, even if you cycle villagers. There's only two villagers I can think of (Bob and Mallary) where they were the only lazy and snooty villagers, respectively, that my island has seen in a long time. I've since grown to associate the lazy and snooty dialogue with those two only, and it feels really weird to see other lazy and snooty villagers say the same things.

Meanwhile, after I got into Pocket Camp, the dialogue there is MUCH more repetitive, and makes this game look like the library of congress in comparison. There's almost no dialogue variety other than what's used by the default 8 personalities, which is sort of disappointing despite being a spinoff game. HOWEVER, if you unlock events in the Scrapbook, there are a ton of short clips where it features various villagers having small talk and doing activities with each other, showcasing unique personalities and lore that isn't seen elsewhere. For example, I unlocked one where it featured Kyle talking to Cherry about music, and Roscoe later came along wanting to start a band. Even though it was just small talk between those specific villagers, I learned that Roscoe once played guitar (my lore had him playing drums, though he'd make a great guitarist if I restarted my lore for the next game), Cherry played drums and wrote songs (she plays keyboards on K.K. Fusion) and Kyle wanted to be a vocalist.

I get that this isn't Pocket Camp we're talking about, but if Nintendo were to implement something like this in the next game, it would give the villagers more of a personality other than the default 8. Also, AI-based villager chats may be a possibility, but it would require a whole lot of testing to make sure nothing sensitive gets spurted out accidentally, and it could cause controversy if methods are found to "trick" what they say. I'm getting ahead of myself here, but this would be the current solution for repetitive dialogue in my opinion.

oh, believe me, if I knew how to make mods, I would definitely make mods with more interactions and dialogue. :,) there’s so much amazing stuff I would implement, both from past games and my own alike :,3
