Are Wild World Villagers more interactive than New Leaf ones?

Recently I decided I would buy Wild World and I have been playing it along with playing New Leaf and I noticed that my Wild World town villagers seem to do more things. They ping more, they talk to each other more, they have more varied tasks than "Bring me a fruit" and they even seem to walk around more. My New Leaf Villagers seem to do more of the exact same things everyday and don't seem to even talk much. All in all I feel like my New Leaf villagers are lackluster compare to what Wild World does

I rarely see my villagers conversing in New Leaf, which is sad. Even if they're nose-to-nose, it's like they don't even see each other most of the time. Wild World was very different.

Yeah.

They ping you and talk to other villagers way more often.

They do it a lot too in CF, just not as much as WW.

Ugh, sorry I thought the first post didn't post for some reason.

Talking dialog was better I think too. It seemed more like believable instances in Wild World. Sure, there are more in New Leaf because different types do different stuff, and now they talk about the different PWP's they're standing around, but still Wild World felt more personal, like you're literally being let into their world, more connected to them. I think it's awful cute how Marina told me that her HRA score jumped up, and it was after she added the lovely kitchen I gave her- gee *eyes looking away* I wonder if someone planned that, and that's why someone gave you that in a letter or something. Heh, heh! Yeah, Wild World, despite looking horrible on a 3DS is actually an awesome game. Thanks to the local play like New Leaf, you can still play with others, but you'll need to be in the vicinity of each other, no more internet play sadly.

Resetti was more Resetti-like back then, lol. One thing I like about Wild World is emotions that actually stick. Like, you say something mean and then they'll be depressed for five minutes or so. Not seen that in New Leaf yet. (o_O)

Absolutely yes, I'd say pretty much everything else is better in New Leaf but they really dumbed down villager personalities. Now they're aren't even remotely rude! :c

Do you think in the next installment of Animal Crossing, the villagers will become more interactive again? I sure hope so. ;v;

I have noticed this also. It's honestly getting on my nerves how unoriginal the requests in NL are. I'm tired of all the fruit requests to the point I gleefully tell them no.

I dont really care because i play ACNL to relax and forget about the day, so if my villagers are rude to me (like last night freya said she hated my clothes) it really brings me down or makes me mad... but i forgave her because i know its her job to act like that and be snooty to everyone

i wouldnt have the guts to say no to my villagers unless its a rare bug or fish request -_- i really love the petition ones because its fun to get out of your town and talk to the other villagers in your friends towns :3

Yes, I do believe so. Not only they're more interactive, but their personalities are deeper and more charming. Lazies are lazies, crankies are definitely crankies, and so on. Not like in ACNL, where crankies are too bland in my opinion...

Yep definitely. I found in New leaf the villagers dialog seems to be more bland and I feel like in Wild World you could really tell if you had a close connection to a villager, especially as how hard it seemed to befriend snooties and crankies so even them complimenting you was an accomplishment. I do like that the crankies and snooties are nicer don't get me wrong, but it just feels less-personalised you know? because you can never really tell whether your good friends or not. Also sometimes if you have a high friendship level with a villager in wild world, they'd let you see the letter that another animal asked you to deliver to them which is really interesting because I always wanted to know what they wrote to each other when I was a kid. Which made me feel like they were more interactive and less like robots because I feel like villagers of the same personality type do repeat themselves a lot although this is bound it happen, it happened much less in wild world tbh.

Just another thing to note: the vocabulary of villagers has changed a fair bit, with the removal of words such as 'darn'. Not noticed if there are any differences in the complexity of the language between the two games but I'm fairly sure you can no longer be called 'fat', 'jerk', 'punk' or 'smelly'.

Maple called Stitches a "sexist jerk" once. LOL

Lol, fun times.

Just looked up the age rating as I've seen the game listed as both 3+ and 7+. Probably got bumped up from 3+ to 7+ seeing as the official Pegi site currently has it listed as 7+ for violence. Of all the things Animal Crossing could have been 7+ for... violence. Really?! Must be either the pitfalls or the fact that you can hit people on the head with an axe, although it bounces off as if the animals were made of rubber. Strange.

Resurrecting this old thread because I have an inquiry about Wild World dialogue versus New Leaf.

For players who have played extensively both of these games, is the Wild World dialogue definitely much, much superior to New Leaf?

For example, when I spam my players in New Leaf to the point where they have thought bubbles (I only do this when time traveling to figure out who’s going to move), the dialogue is extremely repetitive. The smugs always say “cool cucumbers” line, The normals remark upon their friend that has the collection of rare encyclopedias, and they all have a set number of lines and interactions. They don’t really ever get angry with you unless you hit them with a net.

When you get to know them better, they may give you more items rather than trying to sell them to you, but I don’t see any personalization of dialogue.

I don’t think Wild World has holidays, but is the dialogue and character depth vastly superior to New Leaf? Or after you hear it a few times, is Wild World just as repetitive?

It's really not as repetitive at all
They have so many things to say and very long dialogue too, they shower you in requests and gifts
Wild world doesn't have much else to do so the villagers really are the core of the gameplay
You talk to someone and they tell you to get grey furniture, Nook's doesn't have any so you ask another villager for something, they give you a delivery to a third villager, the reward wasn't grey so you talk to that villager and they tell you to get a fossil for them, or race to see who catches a butterfly first, etc. It's really fun

It has been a while since I played Wild World, but I definitely know for a fact this is ESPECIALLY true for snooty villagers. Snooty villagers really got the short end of the stick in NL, where I'd get the same dialogue threads repeating 2-4 times within the SAME conversation block. I actually love a lot of snooty designs, but never felt inclined to really keep any in my town (one MAX out of obligation to have the balance of personalities) because even amongst NL dialogue, they were particularly bland.
