Are you a maximalist or a minimalist when it comes to designing your island?

i would say i'm a somewhat in the middle! i like having my island covered but i still want to be able to easily walk around the island, plush it should also be easily accessible for my villagers since i like seeing them walking around
when in doubt i might not cover a whole section with items but i might throw down some custom design so that it doesn't appear to be empty but i'd rather it be custom design since it won't lag as much

same thing with interiors, i want there to be enough items so that it doesn't look too barren but i don't want my villagers to be stuck or confined to just a small area of their house so i make sure that there's enough walking space for them to freely move around

Omg I do the same thing with custom designs. That and flowers because my villagers and I can walk through them. And same for houses because I like my villagers to be able to access everything but also I want them to have stuff to do (TV, console, kitchen, bed) so it’s a real balancing act since you can’t enlarge the houses of your villagers.

yeaaaah exactly !!! flowers and custom design are my lifeline

i try to give my villagers a bed, a kitchen, and then something for their hobbies and entertainment so it's not so bland - a little tricky sometimes with the limited space ( • ᴖ • ｡)

I would say that I am in the middle. Too little makes it a bit boring and too much might make my game lag like crazy. I’ve seen really nice dream islands that go for the maximalist route in decorating and my switch was laggy (I can’t blame the creators for putting effort into making nice islands).

i like to set paths i can walk on, and then i fill the space around to the max LOL i definitely am a maximalist when it comes to ACNH decorating :] my switch may sound like it’s taking off, and the lag may be horrible, but my eyes are happy

maximalist kind of, but lately ive been filling more spaces with plants/trees rather than items since the theme of my island is abandoned. also i like making use of a lot of paths, it keeps the eyes busy enough without making it look too cluttered if that makes sense :]

Definitely minimalist. I try to make my islands look like they could have been that way when I stepped off the aeroplane.

Most of my designing is the river and cliff placements, then I just add some streetlamps and benches to make some cute areas for villagers to sit. Other than that, I don’t do much else!

I would say minimalist. My island is minimalist right now due to creative block Even if I knew what I wanted to do with it, I hate clutter. I appreciate a good decorated island, but if it's so cluttered to where I get lost or can't walk, I hate it. I'd much prefer a lovely concept executed with fewer items.

I don’t know yet since my island is far from being complete. At this point, I want to redo a lot of what I have. I like the idea of having it a bit jammed with items, but I’m not sure if I will go that route. It depends I think on my ideas. Right now, I don’t really have any idea what I want to do yet.

I'd say I'm somewhere in between. I would hate it if my island were so cluttered that I could barely move, but I'd also hate it if my island was really bare and empty. I like to decorate and add things to my island, but I try to keep the things I add somewhat spread out

I have certain parts of my island that are landscaped like a park. Other parts are left natural, and minimalistic. I prefer a more natural look because I don’t particularly like my switch chugging along lol.

I'm a bit more on the maximalist side, I like having detailed decorations looks nicer, but I don't like it to the point you can't walk through. I have a couple spots on my island that are a bit tricky to move through, but for the most part I have easy to move along paths. At least for my own island, too few decorations just look bland to me, as a preference.
