TOTALLY LATE TO THE PARTY but I'm back from food and anime *v*
I never had bubble tea before. What does it taste like?
Imma give you detailed description:
Bubble tea can be classified into multiple types: milk tea, smoothie, slush, and juice. "Technically" speaking, when ordering bubble tea, you don't ask for "bubble tea" specifically.
E.g. Strawberry milk tea, Honeydew smoothie, Mango slush, Peach juice.
You can get it with fruit flavours (fresh or artificial), and tea flavours (e.g. jasmine green tea, assam black tea, oolong tea)
So that's the basic drink itself. From there, you can add TOPPINGS! Which is what everyone thinks the 'bubble' part is in bubble tea! (But to be honest, bubbles in bubble tea is just the froth at the top of the drink from making it...)
Don't order [insert drink] with bubbles. You'll get corrected. The appropriate topping name for the tapioca balls are "pearls". You can also get all sorts of toppings like red bean, coconut jelly, mango jelly. lychee jelly, (a lot of fruit jellies...), grass jelly, or even pudding.
ALL IN ALL bubble tea doesn't have a specific taste, it's like a smoothie bar or even Starbucks in the way that there are a billion customization options (including amount of ice and sugar!).
Bubble tea is too expensive. It can't be worth it tbh. (Like Starbucks etc.)
Will have to disagree because I've found decent bubbletea for $2! Although the popularized brands are more expensive, you can always find cheaper options!
yesss it's so fast!! I'm a bit far away from the modem though so sometimes stuff don't load for me orz
oh gosh xD; but then again we have lecturers who don't even understand how tabs word in ie... makes me wonder what's the real technical issue lmaoo
haha studying media makes you really paranoid... now I can't watch an ad or read a newspaper article without thinking about everything behind it >->o
I came to UK mostly bc the media course here is more suited to what I want to study!! In HK most "media" courses are really just journalism degrees...
I also grew up being influenced a lot by western culture (including teaching methods hahaa) so I felt being in a westernized environment would help me learn better ' u '!!
also because my chinese is terrible and my english is a lot better but that's an extremely minor reason lmaoo
OK now back to current topic ;w; MEDIA STUDIES!!! <3 That's totally true, I had the option of going to Hong Kong for a media studies exchange program, but my upperyear classmate told me not to because their technology is a lot further behind western media ;; But I really love watching their tv drama and reality show formats! It's also interesting how the two main networks have such a big influence, even when it comes to the talent/celebrities and their activities.
