Opinions?

The coloring and shading is off.
The brown color around the coat looks so odd.
The eye coloring is sloppy.
Usually the head and neck don't join together, and theres a line seperating them.
And a dark shadow below the neck.
Where's your light source?

I think that the drawing was great, the coloring is where it's lacking.

I will try to take that as....contsructive criticism xD this was my first time with digital art, but I'll keep trying!

There is something off between the way you made eyes and the rest. They are a bit blurry, I can see what you tried to do and it is not too badly made, but it doesn't match the overall drawing. Lineart is kinda stiff and a few breaks in the lines are noticeable. The anatomy isn't right ; neck, breast, head form (looks like a square, sort of). The pose is a little rigid, though it's a common weakness of people drawing portraits.
To guide you a little : You might try first to understand a little more about harmony in anatomy before stylizing your illustration if you focus on portrait ;)
Keep it up !

Thanks! I'm keeping at it :)

You're welcome :) As Money Hunter said, you have to focus on multiple things about your composition, so let's summarize it ;

Idea -> Composition -> BG & Overall poses /Perspective & anatomy/ -> dynamisme -> shade/Lightning -> Colors palette

Stylizing becomes natural, appealing to the eyes and easier if you don't ignore & respect those steps, in a way or another.

Confused, but I'll try when I get home!

I'll try drawing by hand and scanning it in~

Hey! First of all, great job for a first digital attempt. Digital can be hard, but you drew lines and colored it in, which is better than I could do at first honestly. Hahaha

Your anatomy is pretty off. Art is a process, but since many people start drawing when they're young they usually draw into styles that have incorrect anatomy, which is just how they learned to draw. It can be hard correcting that. But you have an advantage, as you're just starting out. I recommend that you look at photographs of human models and trace, study, and get a feel for the human body. This is the basic of drawing, and it will help give you a starting point from where to practice.

Trace & study from magazines, photos, real life, but I don't recommend imitating other people's art just yet, as you could potentially imitate incorrect anatomy..

Best of luck!

yeah work on anatomy (thats a big one), choose better colours (bright can be good sometimes but sadly, not here)
theres no line variation either so like.

Your art is really good for your first try doing digital! The eyes look a little out of place with the style you're doing. Are you aiming for a chibi style?
Also, what art program are you using? It can make a huge difference.

The black outlines seem a bit sloppy in a few parts , but hey that's really well done considering it's your first time using and making digital art! I have a tablet and I have still yet to figure it out so kudos to you! I think you can only improve from here! <3

Thank you!
I use GIMP 2.6 and a Wacom Bamboo ^-^
And I dunno what style I was trying to do there xD

Oooh nice. I'm just scanning in some art to work on, so ill use the stabiliser!
