Least favorite storytelling and writing tropes?

dream sequences / "none of this is real" plot.
actually my creative writing teacher really ingrained in us how it's such a pointless plot... the point of a story is to have the character/s grow or change, and when you tell me this was all fake then uh what's the use of telling us this story in the first place if it's just going to go back to status quo? and sorry DRV3 fans in particular but the first time i played through the game i was like really annoyed leaning it was all just some simulation? like ok i guess, now what. yes it did stir up my emotions if that was the goal and i have no idea what part was true and what part was a lie but also knowing that it's very possible the entire game was just a simulation was just. okay then. most my disappointment actually stemmed from being really impressed w the first chapter plot twist, had high hopes for the rest of the game but it fell really flat for me.

uhh trope-wise i don't like the "supposedly funny pervert character" because they are like, never funny to me? get them out of the story because i swear they do not contribute to anything except making my blood boil

i swear i have more gripes but this is what i can think of at the top of my head

THIS.
They usually do thus to characters that have a well rounded relationship with main character, but we don't see this because they kill them too early, so we aren't so connected to them dying.

Of they're killed off because they would easily fixed solutions that take the main character more time to do.

Or get rid of a character so the main character chooses another character as their friend/lover etc. (Voltron??)
it's always the dang wives 😩 "im so sad my wife died" well Mister Action Hero, i never met your wife because your writers killed her before the movie started so i have no emotional attachment to this

It's probably they get way with this, because most people still have a slimmer of empathy for someone losing a loved one; but when it's used constantly you're not gonna get that reaction all the time.
Or some are just sad a good character died and we can't see them progress.

Or worse, the 'my wife died' yet you don't express what she was like, just using it as an excuse for more run time or more papers.

I heavily dislike a very specific trope that is prevalent in nearly almost every popular romance anime.
I absolutely hate the generic male lead x pretty popular girl trope. this can be done right, but it just never is.

The girl in this situation is also very generic, but not outright bland. she is usually considered very popular and even untouchable at times. sometimes Tsundere, and usually at some points teasing the male lead. it feels wrong to point out, but her proportions are almost always exaggerated. almost always has no depth.

The male character always has a very bland design. most times has no depth or backstory. just an absolute blank slate of a character. how much more obvious can it be that he is supposed to be a self insert for the viewer...

i can name multiple examples of this such as Rent a Girlfriend (genuinely one of the worst manga i have ever had the displeasure of reading) Dont Toy with me Miss Nagatoro, and the Quintessential Quintuplets.

Sure, there are some good anime and manga out there with such tropes, but they are so very rare.

I just remembered another one I don't like, it's mostly a thing in cartoons where the main character has a crush on a much older person, usually the school teacher.

It's much better if the younger character has a crush on somebody that's at least 1-4 years older than said main character, as long as it's a child crushing on another child, or an adult crushing on another adult.
