Everyone, I'm surprised that there are so many people who are not aware of this issue. I'm usually not good at explaining things but I'll give it a shot anyway. Apparently, the EU is in the late stages for almost passing this article where it basically copyrights a person's content. We're talking about sites like Youtube, Facebook, Reddit, etc. where you upload content and they would be negatively impacted by this. Basically, the people that you watch and follow will be blocked from uploading videos and viewing them. This is sad because there are people out there who make their living on Youtube and cutting off their source of income is just wrong.

I've heard about it because of Philly D/Philip De Franco doing coverage on his YT channel. That would be a devastating hit to so many people and I can't even imagine how much stress it's causing them to wait for that verdict.

I don't want to go on about how the US has been affected by similar legislation attempts since that's not the focus/point but gosh, I hope for the best outcome-wise. :c

There has been copyright purges on youtube before, over less. I forget what the occasion was. Either way I expect something to happen once they figure out how to implement this thing.

We will, because web sites will have to make drastic changes to accommodate European law. It will have to be enforced on everyone, regardless of where you're living.

I remember when someone on this site told me that America’s domestic policy (which is done to America only) affects everyone in the world, not just those who live in the United States. Article 13 is doing the same.

But it is stupid that foreign influences can have such a big (and negative) impact on domestic policy and lifestyles. What I hope is that it doesn’t hurt TBT.

While I understand the video and the consequences, the really big noise made about the fcc and net neutrality was honestly not enough in the US. I think that the way things are going is truly capitalism striking back on a "free" internet. We've had it so good for so long. Some day we'll tell our kids about how weird and free and open the internet was. Soon we'll be all automated in our cars, homes, etc and have to pay monthly fee just to see out of our own eyes. It's sad but true that greed runs the world.
