• Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.

As the mayors, we barely get to choose anything.

That would be a dictatorship. Imagine being rejected to live in a town because you're ugly. That's not nice.
Not being able to open your shoe shop because the mayor doesn't want shoes.. not nice either..
When shops open and close? What, do you not want the workers to sleep or something?

I feel like we need more freedom, but that would be too much freedom.

They could change the whole mayor thing to king. I would love to have that kind of power over my town. Then again, I LOVE POWER.

^^ No wonder you've got Bowser as your avatar

I know, you could be King/Queen, and you either have to be a good King/Queen or a bad King/Queen.... hahaha :3

funny how villagers don't treat me as a mayor, they freely make me run around town giving packages to other villagers (that's what Pete is for!). it's like telling your boss to run down the street everyday to buy you lunch.

Imagine how boring the game would be if we could just do whatever we want though. It's a game, it has to challenge us otherwise what's the point in playing it? I loveIsabelle, sure she doesn't always like to let me do a PWP where I want it but so what? Imagine if everyone had the freedom to do whatever they wanted. I bet everyone's house would be filled with "rare" items and everyone would have a villager cluster so where in their town. Part of what makes this game so much fun is that everyone's is different because we all have restrictions.

I think Isabelle is cute :c Although I don't get why as mayor you need to complain to Isabelle in order to make someone stop doing something xD

I'd earlier started typing out a long list of "everything we are allowed to choose in ACNL" but I decided it was going to be flamebait so I stopped.

Regardless, I think a lot of the problems people have are due to wanting too much control too soon. If you cover every square inch of your terrain in an intricate network of path tiles and expensive hybrid flowers, of course someone's going to plonk a house down somewhere awkward. Either wait until you've got a full complement of ten you know you're going to keep, or don't design your town in a way such that a villager moving anywhere that isn't your specific designated space will ruin everything.

What events we're going to celebrate

I never thought about that, but it'd make an awesome feature. Like if you were able to choose from a pool of holidays to celebrate on a certain day, and you could only pick one, so to celebrate/see them all, you'd have to go to your friend's towns. xD

...also, I don't understand all the Isabelle hate...she's not annoying or anything, and it's not like her role is hugely obtrusive. Maybe that's just me. 0-o

Have you played any of the previous games? They insult you regularly.

I think Isabelle is more of the Mayor. Which I find annoying.
I feel as if she restricts us too much with the projects, and as mayor we should decide where to put neighbours homes.

I don't think choosing house locations is too far off--someone can't just like...place their house in the middle of a highway for example. They have to purchase the area (and it has to be for sale) and/or purchase a house already built so to be, placing houses wouldn't be that odd--I do agree with the rest though.

Same here. You should be able to mark out lots where you would like houses to go. That is something a Mayor would do. Call it zoning. LOL.

Ditto. I had to pretty much destroy my path by deleting my 2nd character's house (held all my path patterns) when Wolfgang moved in. Luckily, I can still build my bridge close to where I want it. Just hope I can re-build that house...

I would just like to tell new villagers where to move into. Not who moves in, just where. Zoning Laws, I like that.

This thread needs a lot of cheese for that whine.

Preach.

I think everybody who whines about the neighbor moving thing needs to stop whining about it >.>

Also, it's the first game as a mayor. Compared to previous games, I think ya'll need to back up and realize that this is Nintendo's first major large scale update to the game since the original and that of course there is room for improvement.

Yesh. That's what I think, but you have to understand it would be just a little annoying having a villager decide to plop a house on a path, or in my case right in front of my town hall. Not too big of a deal, because I know that at some point the villager will move out. Some point. I Think that is what a lot of people should remember, that the villagers house plots aren't permanent. *^*

Spending money to upgrade the shops makes complete sense. The Nooklings have got to get the money for the building work from somewhere.
