what color is ur hair
A boring black. People find it more notable that my hair is curly (may be curly because I'm Irish), and that I don't cut it as often as I should. In fact, when I was at the grocery store recently, my sister said she saw a grown man staring at my unkempt hair with an angry scowl. I also suspect my unkempt hair is at least partially to blame for the shock people have upon finding out that I tutor.

Thanks for the question.

Oh wow  One more question, What do you tutor in? Math?

Wish I were that good. English (college level). I remember getting placed in a remedial English course when I entered college. First question by my professor was: why are you in remedial? My answer: two professors I never met were not entertained enough by my essay.

Math was my Achilles Heel in grade school, so I spent several semesters in community college patching that up. One of my goals is to not only be OK in math, but great at it. That Khan Academy and ALEKS really comes in handy.

Do you have any siblings?
Yes, I have two brothers and one sister. I do not like to think of them as 'half,' but for the sake of clarifying, one brother shares the same father but not the same mother, and I never saw him past my years as a toddler. I have no idea what he is like now. But I grew up with and still do everything with one brother and sister; different father, same mother. My brother and sister are a few years younger than me. Yes, I am the one who got away with more.

Thanks for the question!

 wow! That's really cool!

What is your favorite movie
If I have to narrow it down... Am?lie (2001), which is a romantic comedy about an introverted waitress finding love, but to me it was so much more than that: an all-around fun movie with emotionally engaging characters, and that is really a story about humanity in general. That makes no sense, I know. I suppose sharing a one minute clip will give a better idea what I mean: 'Nino is late,' which is about Amelie, the title character, wondering why Nino, the man she has a crush on, has not shown up to meet her yet.

Another movie I very much enjoyed and that would also have no problem calling my absolute favorite is Kiki's Delivery Service (1989). Once again, I absolutely love all the people in this movie, even the 'bad' ones, because they are fully-realized individuals. I thought it was largely nostalgia that seared this movie into my head, but re-watching it recently I realized that I identified closely with Kiki because, like Amelie, she is introverted, and where people in real life saw my personality as problematic, here were movies that treated like characters with nuance and tenderness. I also am in love with Hayao Miyazaki's hand drawn animations, and the idyllic urban and natural landscapes he depicts, in this case the town of Koriko, an imagined European style seaside city if there was no Second Great War.

Another movie that feels similar would be 7 Centimeters Per Second, about a childhood romance made fleeting by a forced move, and which eats away at the male protagonist into his adulthood, until a chance second encounter allows him to move on. Perhaps even more than Miyazaki, the director for this movie, Makoto Shinkai, focuses heavily on environment, with his close-up shots of a basketball coming to a stop on a court, rays of light resting in an empty classroom, a bird bursting through thick storm clouds in the night into the rising sun. I wouldn't say this is my favorite movie, but I like it for similar reasons as the one above.

And before I go way too long ('before'—right), another movie I would also not mind calling my absolute favorite is Blade Runner (The Final Cut), about a detective (played by Harrison Ford) who hunts down renegade androids who've escaped servitude and now seek out a way to extend their lives on earth. Once again, this is a story that studies human nature, bringing into question what it means to truly live. And the final lines by the lead android to Ford's character felt more human than anything else in that dreary jungle of steel and concrete that is the main setting of the film.

and were you born polite or did you have to work at it ? ( yes it's a compliment)
Even in childhood I was much concerned with politeness. One of my earlier memories is of a trip to the Philippines, specifically when my aunt brought me to her place of employment, a mine, to meet her manager. My mom says they were taken aback by my use of 'sir' in addressing the manager.

Even so, I was certainly more short-tempered in my teenage years. More than just for practicing it, I find politeness to be an interesting topic related to communication, as people often confuse being 'nice' with being 'good.' I remember a short but interesting conversation about this in a topic on my message board: 'Some thoughts on the externalization of evil.'

Not to say I'm secretly evil, though I could be.

Do you enjoy watching cat videos?
Who doesn't?

Thanks for the questions!

1.) Why do you like Animal Crossing?
I like that it has no ultimate goal and has infinite patience for me to mold my surroundings and collect stuff for it. In this regard, I am somewhat reminded of city building games like Zeus: Master of Olympus or Supreme Commander and how I love to 'turtle' in those games whether playing against a person or the computer, and a game like Minecraft, which I have not gotten into yet, but which I have seen my brother playing for hours just building a castle for himself. Whether games like these or Animal Crossing: New Leaf, ultimately it's like the game is my virtual 'room,' though perhaps part of the addiction for ACNL is the permanence of that 'room' (i.e., it does not last just for the 'level' or 'scenario,' but keeps going on day by day in real time).

Of course, I'm just speculating; I really have no idea why I am addicted. I should ask a psychologist, Jim Sterling, or someone equally smart.

2.) Whos your favorite villager, why?
Hamphrey. Pudgy. Black. Hamster. Adorable! Pippy. Freckles. Female but not 'gender coded.' I like the peppy personality. Flip. Cool looking monkey. The jock personality is the most endearing. It's a tie between these three.

3.) Whats your most funniest memory?
Mm, not sure, but the first one that came to mind was me running backwards on the track during wrestling practice, then inevitably falling to hit my head. My friends and I laughed so hard we couldn't finish the laps.

Thanks for the questions!

Nope, real first name is Kevin Mark. Yes, I have two first names; my parents couldn't decide. I'm lying, right? Well, I could actually investigate it: ruffle some feathers, wait in lines, grab the doctor who was there by the coat and tell him to start talking, but the birth certificate does look legit.

As for Zulehan, just saw a guy had it as a user name, so stole it. Never asked him what it meant, and have no idea. You have me curious, though, so I did a Google search. So far the results are less than relevant.
