I got super bummed after both Whitney and Julian both ninja moved on me within a matter of weeks. I stopped playing for over a year because of it!

I've had the itch to play again lately, so I cleared off my partner's cartridge and have been using that, but it just didn't feel the same. A few days ago I bit the bullet and managed to backtrack and stop Julian from moving.

I won't lie, it'll probably be pretty soon before my interest in NL wanes once again, but for now, I might poke around the forums for some trades or villagers and whatnot. I might make a cycle town on my spare cartridge if that's something people are still interested in.

Anything new around TBT? Tons of new faces I'm sure.

Is there enough interest in villagers still for me to set up a cycle town?

Glad to be back.

welcome back, everything is terrible and we're all going to hell.

Oh that's okey! There's still about 300 new villagers left to meet, and I'll be interested in your villager cycling though I'm very new to it xD

Nobody actually plays Animal Crossing anymore.

ha- that's true! everybody just sells art or makes tons of posts to earn forum bells, in order to buy forum collectibles...

how did you manage to stop Julian from moving if he already moved?

I made sure to load my town on a new character beforehand, I just never actually went back and stopped him from moving until over a year later

but the game moves in real time?

Nothing loaded, nothing saved. Time traveled back to the last time I played, before he moved, and stopped him  Getting back to the current date without losing other villagers took longer than anything else

Welcome back! Villager trading is still very active - though mostly for the same 5 characters or so. My suggestion for if you have a cycling town is not to auto-void anyone - a lot of people are looking for more unpopular villagers nowadays.

this isn't possible.
like the game doesn't just stop. and once a villager moves you can't time travel back and undo it. they'll still be gone.

oh wb! I'm a new face ;p

and no, no way you could've stopped him from moving.. That's not how TTing works in this game, I'm certain.

Haha sorry I'm really bad at explaining, but on my last actual "save" he hadn't moved yet. When I picked up the game again, I scouted the town out on a new character first, as the game only saves what state the town is in if you load on an existing character. I looked at the activity log and TTed back to a time when he was still in my town and intercepted his ping. It's the same method people use to reset for plot placement, campsite cycling, etc. :p I lost Cobb and gained Goose on the way back to 2015.

Shame no one really plays any more though! I might just use the spare cart for messing around with. Or maybe I'll make a theme town. Hmm...

but that's still not physically possible...?

say 3 months ago your villager was in boxes ready to move and you dont do anything about it and they moved away while you were done.and 3 months later you pick up the Ds again and log in, that villager is gone. the game moved without you. you can't load up a new save file and everything be as it was 3 months ago.. the game doesn't stop, and as soon as you load up your mayor, the current file is saved as the town currently is, those 3 months later.

the only way you can do this is if you use powersaves and had your town powersaved before the villager pinged to move.

I'm guessing the villager pinged, he agreed and stopped playing and then he went back to the date before the set moving date and stopped him?
At least that's what I understood.

Anyway, I was also gone for almost 2 years. Then a few weeks ago I bought HHD, decided to visit here and started playing New Leaf again. You're right that it's not quite the same anymore but I've looked at some ACNL tumblr blogs and have gotten inspired to work on my landscaping. I did a villager trade and let go of Tangy, one of my first villagers, and traded her for Felicity. I've also made villager-inspired art. lol... Not sure how long it'll last though.

but once a villager is gone, they're gone. you can't convince them to stay after this point. no amount of time travel will reverse it.if villager x in my town today, 12/9/15, is in boxes. they are gone no matter if i time travel.
if i exited the game and went backward a few days they'd be gone from my town.

the only time you can stop a villager from moving is if you interrupt their ping and tell them no.
but this doesn't work if you missed the ping and the villager has already agreed / decided to move.

the only time the ping reset method works is in current time.
so villager x pings me to move today, and i accidentally say yes to leave.
exit without saving and reload up that same day and then i can ping farm villager x until they ping again and i can say no.

but if in that same scenario i say "yes" to villager x by accident and they agree to move say 5 days later.
and i stop playing my game and 7 days later i log in and villager x is gone, i can't just time travel backwards 7+ days and get him back. that villager is g o n e.

Actually, that's incorrect. Say a villager pings me to move today. Tomorrow, as I talk to that villager, they might bring up moving. It'll be something like "I'll be moving in four days blahblahblah" and you then get an option to say either "Good luck" or "Don't go!" Or something to that extent. You can stop a villager from moving if they've pinged but aren't in boxes.

If you change the system date (NOT in-game date) to the last time you played, the villager would still be there.

Here's a more thorough guide:

ahh, i didn't know you meant going through the system and not ig-time. i was like??? that's not possible.
i wish i had known there was an internal ds clock tip like this, i never would have lost rasher if i had known.

i meant if you hiatus from the game after agreeing for a villager to ping.
