Yeah, no one really uses the system time for time travel. It messes with any other realtime-based games, and also breaks the activity log. It's also a lot slower because you have to exit the game as well as restart the system afterwards.
The worst part about that method is getting back to the real date if you're a dummy like me. You can apparently TT forward an infinite distance on the same day you stop someone from moving (Julian in my case) but I had already saved and skipped a few days before I realized. Took forever to get Cobb to ping so I could move back to this year
I actually think you can even stop a villager from moving if they previously pinged you and you okayed the move. The only time it's too late is if they're in boxes.
