*i'm not sure if it goes here.. please let me know*

has anyone else had this problem? it just happened with me... & it got me a little bit worried.... it seems fine right now, though, as i turned my switch off for a little bit...

the fan was whirring & the back was soooo hot.... it's not so, anymore, though....

i blew on the back of it... don't know if that helped or not...

mine gets a little warm from time to time, but not hot. ive worried about that too, thinking that my switch is getting old and the fan isnt working as well as it might. my fan makes more noise than it should also.

it seems alright at the moment now :>

If you hear the fan, you might have to get the fan replaced. But that happened to me once, so I took a break for a day and a half and its ok now.

Mine used to get a little warm. I never put too much thought into it. I never worried about it setting on fire or anything, lol.

Did you set it on top of something fabric like? Like a couch? Sometimes when I put my Switch down on the couch when it’s charging, it’s starts to overheat, so I now try not to put it on surfaces that has something fabric like or cloth like, especially when charging.

If i have it in the dock while playing it tends to get a little warm on the back, im guessing its because its doing so much at once, i shouldn't worry too much about it!

no, i'm holding it & playing it while at the computer desk... & it's plugged in... it was fine again once i turned it off for a little bit.. :>

According to Nintendo it's normal for it to get hot while it's in use. If you constantly get errors due to it overheating I'd be more worried but if it just gets hot it'll be fine.

I started noticing this yesterday actually. And also the battery doesn't appear to be lasting as long. But I also kinda blame that on excessive playing last night haha

it never happened before with me....

I've had this overheating and fan issue a few months after I bought the switch. It's the times we live in. There really isn't quality control anymore.

If you search a bit you'll find there are problems with defective fans (very cheap sleave bearing fans like those used in most electronics). You'll also see plenty of people sent their switch to nintendo to be fixed and it came back with the same problem.

If your switch does get too hot to operate it will freeze or lock up. If that starts happening then there is the potential to cause damage after a while, but if its not locking up it should be ok, but if you see any bulging from the battery this is a sign of impending failure and shouldn't be ignored as the battery could start a fire if continued to be used after it begins to fail.

The battery not lasting as long is normal and most likely not a sign of dangerous failure.

it's looking alright now, though.... when it happened yesterday, i got a little worried & just turned it off for a little bit...

it's fine now, it seems, though... it didn't really freeze or lock up... :>

my fan does this all the time when i first turn the switch on and load up a game. i just keep playing, and it quietens down soon enough so i can only hear it when i hold it right up against my ear. it's never caused me any problems, i assume it's just because the switch lite is initially booting up or something, which takes a lot of energy or whatever. it usually only gets hot when i've played for several hours or play while it's charging, but it's never been hot enough to cause serious issues.

The only time I noticed my fan make noise was when I accidentally covered the vent with the blanket the Switch was sitting on. I've tried to be careful to never do that again.
