back of switch overheating a bit

The only time I noticed my fan make noise was when I accidentally covered the vent with the blanket the Switch was sitting on. I've tried to be careful to never do that again.

all i'm doing is holding my switch by the joycons :>

I think if it's plugged in it will get hotter than playing unplugged. Also if the room you are in is warm. Happens to me with my phone (no fan, but it gets hot.) Happens sometimes with my Switch.

yeah, i always have it plugged in when i play... it never happened before though...

it seems it's alright now, though, thankfully :>

I am not following my own advice, but it would be better for battery longevity to play unplugged until about 20% charge remains and then plug it in. Batteries like to be between 20-80% of full charge, but if you don't fully charge them, you will lose that capacity. If you always keep it charged, you will also shorten it's life.

Playing plugged in will make the switch a little hotter because charging a battery does generate heat.

i always thought it charges while you play when it's plugged

it feels fine right now, though :>
i've been stopping to play pokemon black on my 2ds after a while, recently anyway :>

I have a Switch Lite that tends to get warm every time I use it. However the only time the fan has kicked in was when I was hosting a meteor shower and had several other players landing. I’ve heard that if you have or visit a cluttered island with a lot of lag then the console heating up can become more of an issue.

If you have a case on your switch (or even a skin) that can also result in it getting hotter too. I have a heavy plastic case on mine and it gets pretty warm, since the cases will trap in heat.

no, i don't have a case/skin on my switch :> i've thought about getting a skin for my next switch, though :>

i've stopped playing for today, anyway :3

On a side-note, I assume it's probably not a good idea to use other USB-C chargers? The one I sometimes use still has high watts/W, but I don't want to damage my switch. I mean even my macbook pro laptop charger works on it....lmao
