bamboo island insect wrecked?

i havent been back to bamboo island since the update but i got it tonight; and as usual i cleared the entire island in order to catch tarantulas...but the only bugs that are showing up are mole crickets; which i hate and dont want *except maybe the three for flick*.
ive been roaming around the completely bare island now for about 30 minutes without a single tarantula showing up.
has nintendo destroyed the ability to 'hack' the islands to get a specific bug type???

k sooo im pretty sure that the island doesnt spawn tarantulas/scorpions anymore. im still walking around it with no good insects yet.
to be fair about this...im walking at night at *right now in game* 10:21pm. the date is accurate. there are snowflakes in the air and the ground is covered in snow.
none of that should matter because ive also found tarantulas on my own island a few days ago when its also snow covered with snowflakes and at night.
has anyone else had this problem? or are you still getting the good insects on bamboo island?

thank you! i had tried it a long while ago and had the same result. i do think they spawned after about 20 minutes the last time. this time theres nothing at all there.
why did they wreck it??? thats how i made my first million bells!!!

I’m not much of an insect-hunter but I guess you’re better off looking for tarantula islands? :0 Not sure why they wrecked it though, seems like a shame. Maybe they want to push the turnip market as the fastest way to get rich.

hahaha!! well, the bamboo island is an insect island once youve cleared it off...or...it used to be anyways. i would make easily 250,000 bells with one run on it within a couple of hours time. now the only way to get that sort of bells is by turnips *which i always spoil because of my time traveling lol* or diving...which takes For Eva.

I was so bummed when they changed the ability to make tarantula islands. I am soooo glad I hit that hard in the early days. Made over 15 million bills before they nuked it. Made island life easy

I noticed this too. I wasn't a big fan of hunting tarantulas and scorpions anyway but that was a nice way to get income fast.
I do have to say, I wish they had the beetle hunting in acnh. I really liked that in new leaf. I mean, obviously the cost of selling them needs to be nerfed a bit, but beetles don't attack you. You just have to make sure you don't scare them. And hunting a variety is always nice instead of just one particular bug.
Well, maybe they will have a beetle haven safari thingy in the next game that give a little more bells than other bugs and a higher spawn rate.
With acnh having the crops and really, even cooking and then selling, I feel like that makes up for the income "loss". You could just make big fields of crops to harvest and sell or cook and sell until you have the amount of bells you are wanting.

AH I miss the island! I still play NL so when I go there its PERFECT. It is zen and calm and just an easy way to get bells without turnips!! I loved it! I wish it was in NH or atleast Kapp'n could have had one of the islands be a Beetle island. It could have been like Tarantula island but the whle island is sand and tons of palm trees and the spawn rates for rare bugs are higher! Alas we do not have it
