Beautiful Town Ordinance speculation

I wanted to open up discussion specifically about the beautiful town ordinance because it's pretty mysterious to me. In New Leaf, it made it so weeds didn't grow and flowers never wilted. But in New Horizons, flowers never wilt, and weeds are actually really pretty and also no longer affect your island rating. So what does it do now?

Well my first thought was that it would stop flowers from spreading like weeds, *maybe* stop weeds from growing (which is kinda sad but I guess if you already have all the weeds you want you want in place, it would be a way to lock them in.)

But another thought that just popped into my head was what if it made it so all the bushes bloomed all year? I kinda love that idea because I kinda think the bushes look too plain without the flowers and wish they would be bloomed all year long. But maybe this would take away what was special about bushes having seasons and stuff and seeing that first bloom. I don't know..

What do you guys think of this idea? And what other ideas do you have about what the Beautiful Town Ordinance could be in New Horizons?

I hope it does something to put a stop to flowers reproducing like crazy. A few days and your entire island is filled. The transparent pattern trick works, but it’s honestly a bit tedious for something that shouldn’t even be an issue in the first place.

Stopping weeds from growing and stopping flowers from spreading like, well, weeds was the only things I thought of myself. I do like that bushes blooming idea. If that ends up being part of the beautiful town ordinance, I would probably use it.

I've always liked how the trees are pink during cherry blossom season, but cherry blossom season is so short. It's not realistic for the real world obviously, but it'd be neat if you could choose for your trees to look like they're in a certain season year round. Even better, if you could pick only certain trees. Like what if I wanted a certain area to be a cherry blossom area year round, but the rest could be normal trees that would change with the seasons. I seriously doubt we would ever get this, but think of the interesting decorating possibilities!

I would love it if the bushes had flowers all year.
@DJStarstryker it would be nice to be able to pick what color your trees are. Cherry blossom season really is short. It would be nice if you could make it last a week or two more. The fall tree colors would look nice in my farm area all year.

The bushes blooming all year round sounds like a beautiful idea, but I have to admit, I like it when they bloom in certain seasons instead. I’ve heard that a lot of people have trouble with flowers spreading like crazy, so maybe it stopping that would be really great. I’m kinda curious now to see what it does.

If I had to guess:

1. Prevents roaches from appearing in homes.
2. Better success rate of hybrid growth.
3. Prompts villagers to water flowers more often.
4. Weeds less likely to grow.

I’m assuming it’ll be to help prevent weeds and flowers breeding especially after a rain storm which would be a blessing. It’ll be interesting to see what’s involved once we can all access the various ordinances.

Actually, weeds do affect your rating (from what I've read), albeit in the 0.1 percentage range. It affects very little, but it does affect. So yeah, no weeds please! Also, no roaches please! I hope there won't be anymore roaches while using this ordinance.

It really doesn't based on my experience! I've had like.. almost my entire island covered in weeds and I have had a 5 star rating for over a year. I'm talking over 300 weeds. And I used to have more hehe. Although I do agree it would be nice if they wouldn't spread since I want to just lock in place the ones that I do have since I put them in specific areas and want to keeps them exactly there instead of multiplying and ruining my organized chaos lol.

Also, am I the only one who loves the roaches? I hope the ordinance doesn't kill my roaches they're perfect for my haunted house and my bf's house in the trash area lol. They're so cute and I love the noise they make when they're running around hehe. I wish they were donateable in the museum lol
