Becoming a Mod

I was just curious, how does one become a moderator, and what is needed for a Forum Member to become one?

I know I am a relatively new member to the forum, but I am just curious.

It's been quite some time since new mods were hired... they've rotated around staff roles for the past few years but to my knowledge, no new staff member has been taken on since June 8th, 2016. So over 3 years ago.

Maybe they'll bring more people on closer to New Horizons release when traffic gets more intense here, and they might contact you personally if they think you're a good fit and they need help, but generally they would make an announcement when staff apps are open to everyone

Every few years after some mods get tired of being a mod, the admins will make a post with an application you can apply for. Generally, you need to be known in the community here and been around for some time to be picked.

I've asked to be a mod several times but never heard anything. I always get this impression that the staff have some kind of unnatural resentment towards me. Though it's just a feeling and I don't know if it's true or not.
