Bells vs Museum Completion?

Always fill the museum before selling. ALWAYS. In the case of the shark that I caught (first day ) I actually put it in my tent as a pet... and I'll donate the second one I get.

Yes, my tent has a giant shark tank and a bed in it. lol

I started out selling everything.. until I caught my first shark. After that I donated everything. I like completing things first. Makes me feel more accomplished, plus, it makes me feel less guilty when I catch something again and sell it.

In Wild World, I always donated first, but in this game I'm selling for Bells first. Sorry, Blathers! Maybe later today I'll do some fishing and donate some of the fish to the museum, because I feel a little bad.

I always donate first. Ya never know when you'll come across another!

I do the exact same thing for that very reason! Having been told that it's been added to the encyclopedia right away after catching whatever it is really helps to remember.
Also I like how when you have a lot of things that can be donated that they have a darker appearance in the menu indicating that it's been donated already. It's a really helpful feature added since past games where one had to constantly check the list or be told it can't be donated a second time. Really bothered me and such a time waster.
I approve of that!

I always donate first in AC games. I want to be able to complete the whole museum!

The first part of the first day is different though

The way I see it....the sooner you donate the sooner you don't need to worry about where your catches go.

You know exactly where the next shark you catch will be going.

I always donate rare bugs and fish but im selling all of the common ones until I get my island. Then I will work on filling up the museum, but I dont really care if ive got to wait a year to dontate some common fish that I missed out on bec. I know it wont be hard to find during those months. The only semi-rare fish ive caught is a koi, and I sold it because I know ill catch plenty of those later. A shark on the other hand I would donate since I never ever caught one in City Folk.

The only times I don't donate straight away is if it seems like a common catch and a villager asks for it first, or if I decide to keep it as a pet in my house. ~ which sometimes leads to me forgetting to donate it later.

Fossils and paintings always get donated straight away though.
