Well, two days ago that is.
So here I am, getting ready to play at my uncle's long-awaited wedding... He's 26, by the by, so we rarely call him "Uncle Mike", just "Mike", but he's still my uncle, so... I'll refer to him as uncle from now on.
Anyways... I was slated to play two flamenco tunes at first. But suddenly, I though it'd be more appropriate to play two brazilian tunes and a flamenco tune later. I come up to the guy that's doing all the music work (this was all in a golf club, btw, it's all after the main wedding ceremony... like a dinner), whose name was Volodya, and he was... slippery.
Regardless, I changed my program, and sat down to my table. My brother was there, along with a kind-of-wierd 13 year old gal, and pretty girl whom I thought I met before... She was with her 17-year-old cousin. So, before I was asked to play, I talked to the pretty girl, who turned out to be 16... We talked quite a bit, and eventually we, err, traded emails n'stuff.
But that's not the point. SUDDENLY, my guitar teacher (the guitar teacher that's my grandfather thrice removed) and tells me that it's my turn to play. I had NO idea. I quickly grab my guitar, looking very sexy in a very formal outfit, sat down, plugged in my amp and stuff, and started playing.
Boy, was THAT a pretty solid performance. I played the two brazilian tunes first (You guys heard both of them, Brasiliance and Carioquinha, but I play them WAY better now) and then a flamenco piece... Farruca by Sabicas. Then, the clapping commenced.
I get back to my table, the pretty gal is smiling, and tells me that I played very well. So, we ate a bit, and then the Volodya guy announces that the dance floor is open. So, errr... the pretty gal invites me to a dance. I didn't refuse, but I must say that I could have danced MUCH better. MUCH MUCH BETTER. Still, wasn't bad... I mean, I held her hand.
Anyways, moving on. Suddenly, I hear that the tune "Hava Nagila" starts playing, right after the slow tune that I danced with the gal to was finished. Hava Nagila is a VERY well-known Jewish song, and it's customary to take the newlyweds, put them in the center, and have all the others hold hands and dance around them. That's what we did for around 5 minutes, the song's length. VERY fun.
But yeah, things continued in this matter. Overall, a very great day... Solid performance, potential girl-friend... Sweeeeeeeet.
