With the new Animal Crossing game on its way, I would like to review the last couple games of Animal Crossing. If you have played the game, share what part of the game you actually liked. If not, don?t include it in your post unless if you want to say that you never played. The games are:

  • GameCube Version
  • Wild World
  • City Folk
  • New Leaf (before Welcome amiibo update)
  • Happy Home Designer
  • amiibo Festival
  • New Leaf (Welcome amiibo update only)
  • Pocket Camp
You can also say Population: Growing instead of the GameCube Version. They also don?t have to be exclusive to their respective games either. But if you want to remain exclusive, I suggest adding a ninth item, which is ?overall?.

My opinions:

  • GameCube Version - Universal Codes. Before Wi-Fi was introduced to the series, code trading was how trades were done. But alone with code trading, there were other codes that can get you almost any item.
  • Wild World - Acorn Festival. While most of the holidays sucked, one holiday I actually liked was the Acorn Festival, which was how you could get the Mush Series back then.
  • City Folk - Optional expansions of Tom Nook?s store. I liked how there is a relationship with store hours and store size, and how you were able to choose.
  • New Leaf (before update) - the Public Works Projects. This was the best thing coming out of New Leaf. You can design your own town any way you like.
  • Happy Home Designer - facility design. Designing others?s houses is one thing, but designing stuff like restaurants, shops, and hotels is what got me still playing it (last time I played it was in August 2018, which is more recent than the last time I played any Animal Crossing game).
  • New Leaf (update only) - mini-games. More specifically, Animal Crossing: Puzzle League.
  • Overall - interior designing. Pretty much the one feature that got me into Animal Crossing.

GameCube Version - I love the balls, morning aerobics and sports festivals.
Wild World - I think the villager personalities were just the right balance in this game. Interesting and fun without being downright cruel to the player. I also miss the unique festivals like Bright Nights, La-Di-Day, and Acorn Festival.
City Folk - Going to the city was pretty fun (in fact it was the only thing I liked about this game). I liked Phineas' prize stand the best.
New Leaf (before Welcome amiibo update) - I loooove the island tours.
Happy Home Designer - I really like how you can put homes in different types of terrain (eg. in the desert, in the forest, on a mountain). My favourite part of that game was always choosing where to place the home because it was so interesting to have terrains other than plain grass.
amiibo Festival - Did not play.
New Leaf (Welcome amiibo update only) - Tad was added. Need I say more?
Pocket Camp - The best thing added in Pocket Camp is the special character fortune cookie items. I hope they transfer to AC Switch (except in the game we can buy them with in-game currency and not something dumb like leaf tickets).

GC- the NES games you could collect were super cool
Wild World- i really liked how the feathers were elusive and hard to get (acorn festival was bomb too tho)
City Folk- better holidays than WW, city was alright
NL (pre update)- being mayor in general. so much more customization than previous titles. also!! skirts and pants!!!
HHD- new outdoor options, having a YARD around the house hello??? and also putting things on the center of tables god BLESS
NL (post update)- the RV place is just really cool in general, made beans obtainable in the US

GC- just a soccerball lying around the ground, kicking it. Also other villagers kicking it.
WW- maybe the dump bin in the town hall. FREE STUFF!
has not played City folk yet
HHD- great way to learn aritecture (not really..)
NL (pre-update?) being the mayor and creating PWPs
NL(post-update) you can bring any villager you want, if you have the right amiibo card that is

  • GameCube Version - So many things to talk about... I guess I'll have to go with 3-layer towns. My current Gamecube town has 3 layers and I love it.
  • Wild World - Wild World was the weakest main series game in my opinion. Out of the things I remember, I enjoyed when villagers put Christmas lights on their houses.
  • City Folk - The fact you can choose which Nook store you want. I don't have to boycott my town's Nookway, since it will stay Nookway as long as I pick "variety" every month.
  • New Leaf - Public works projects. AF: E+ and City Folk had elements of PWPs, but New Leaf is the game that really perfected them. Opened up so many customization options.
  • Happy Home Designer - Being able to customize "Main Street" shops. Especially their exteriors. I doubt they would let you customize a shop's interior for a main installment, but having a few different exteriors could really help your main street look slightly distinct from the millions of others out there.
  • Amiibo Festival - No.

Population Growing - I quite like the codes as well.
Wild World - Brewster, I would change it to your hair can change, but it is really frustrating that it is basically a late game feature.
City Folk - You are able to change your hair right away.
Pre-update New Leaf - Taller bodies adding room for more room for customization.
Happy Home Designer - Fast furniture placement.
Amiibo Festival - Different character outfits; albeit the means of obtaining them I dislike.
New Leaf: Welcome Amiibo - Anything included within the campsite feature.
Overall - The ever expanding catalog of character and house customization items.

Gc - The days when you can do yoga
Ww - Brewster
Cf - The fact you could get a balloon from that guy
Nl - Being mayor

cube crossing: a clock that worked even when you weren't playing and universal codes
wild world: expanded player customization options, including the addition of hats/accessories and hairstyles, villager pics, and the localization itself
city folk: gyroid storage and the introduction of silver tools
new leaf: non-gender locked clothing options, revamped character models, and furniture remodeling
amiibo festival: namesake
happy home designer: interior decorating overhaul
welcome amiibo: more storage and the ability to get missed dlc items
overall: any sort of customization the games have to offer. be it though house decorating, pattern designing, landscaping, furniture remodeling, or anything else
