Super sorry if there's already a thread like this

What's the best story you've ever read? It doesn't have to be one that's been published; it could be a fanfiction, creepypasta, a story that's only on wattpad or something, etc.

For me, I think a story that really stuck with me was Me and the Boy With the IV, a wattpad story that I believe might've been published. I don't think it's the best story I've ever read, but it definitely had an impact on me. Honestly, I don't think I've ever read a story that I would classify as the best.

The best story I've read is probably The Count of Monte Cristo. It's a little hard to read because it's older and I believe the setting is in France, but the plot line is so compelling! The movie for it is also very good c: I read it kind of early, but I think it's frequently studied in college literature classes. Definitely worth the time, though. The main character, Dantes, is one of the best and dreamiest heroines I can think of ^.^

I have alot of favourite books but theres this one fan fiction that is just like a pure masterpiece. The writer could practically make it a book and I'd buy many copies. Its called "Room for Dreams" and its based on characters from the anime Durarara. It's actually amazing I really recommend reading it even if you don't watch the show. :p

Best short story I've ever read was The Last Question by Isaac Asimov or A Pail of Air by Fritz Leiber. Both are amazing

As a 6th grader we were forced to read The Westing Game. Not the greatest piece published but 6th grade me was soooooo obsessed with Sun Lin Hoo's quiet nature and subtle (to 6th grade me) notions to it being her that I wrote half a page off the provided lines rationalizing why it was her. I remember my teacher looking at me when he said people had lots of different opinions lolol. I won't spoil if I was wrong *I was tho*

I read "Poppy" by Avi as a little kid and for some reason that really stuck with me, but I honestly don't really remember much of it and I kinda want to revisit it to see if it's as good as I always hyped it up to be. The best book that I actually remember everything that happens in it is basically anything by @makeandoffer on wattpad. The characters to all of her books are extremely rememberable and I love her sense of humor, but if I had to choose a favorite I guess it would be "Dead and Not Burried".

i really liked the outsiders book. tugged at my feelings a lil bit

well the best fanfic i've ever read is definitely 'Into the Woods' (it's an over the hedge fanfic lmao) it ended like halfway into the plot because the author went MIA 10 years ago and i'm still pissed about it to this day. i've been tempted to write my own ending because ****

The Crucible

Will society ever learn... literal witch hunts.

Are you now or have you ever been a member of ___?!

I read an interesting short story about a year back on Reddit.

It was based on this writing prompt:

" A day before the Earth is destroyed by a collision with a rouge planet, time freezes. You, a completely normal person are untouched and cannot die. Text on your arm appears that reads, "however long it takes, save us" "

You can check it out here

Well, it's definitely something by Stephen King....but he has so many....

Pet semmatary I think is fantastic. It's creepy, but it's not an out an out gore fest. There's a real great story in there. The fact it's horror is a plus for me.
A fantastic short story by Stephen King is 1922. That is full of gore and is very disturbing....but again, the story is amazing. It's not the kind of thing you read if you're already having a bad day. It's not uplifting in the least, there's no happy moments...
It's extremely well written, though. Would highly recommend to anybody who likes horror

I personally love Counting by 7s, The Phantom Tollbooth, and Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library.
