History of Bilby Isle
Bilby Isle was established in May 2020, with the first villagers Agnes, Louie and SJ.
Bilby Isle was named after the Greater Australian Bilby, an endangered marsupial. The name arrived from the idea that a deserted island might be a prime location to serve as a protective habitat for such an endangered species. The name Bilby Isle is more an homage to the very cute animal, as this ACNH island is intended to be an immersive fictitious world, where the real world doesn't exist!
Following the establishment of the island, Tabby, Rhonda and Rodeo all arrived to establish their own homes on the island. While Rhonda remains on the island today, Tabby and Rodeo have moved on to grander adventures (Tabby is probably a pop star now, and Rodeo a bug-catcher).
We hope you'll come and visit, and soon I hope to update here with a DA.
I will follow up my welcome post immediately with a collection of images from my first snowy winter experience on Bilby Isle!
I'm apparently inept at snowball rolling, and truthfully, I'm unsure of how I feel that the snowboy talks.
After making my very first (and only so far) snowboy, I mistook this mush stool as a snowball and tried to roll it.
Snowboy Day 1 & Day 2
And just an extra of me and Megan checking out the forest in winter. They're so cute with their soup.
Because Megan is a bear, and I'll make the generalisation that bears live in the forest, I'm now wondering whether I should extend my woodland and place Megan's home in it. Hmm...
Mostly just some tired, late night ramblings from me.
Decorating
I've found a burst of inspiration for redecorating my island! Lately it's been feeling 'nice', but a bit underwhelming to me.
I've done very little terraforming around my island in general, so I'm working mostly with the natural landscape. I do have one idea, but I'm working on one section at a time (while making a huge mess of my island in the mean time).
I started with Patty and Poppy's houses (they're neighbours). I'm quite pleased, so I'll update with pictures later.
After my realisation that Megan is a bear and therefore shoul live in the forest (don't question the logic, there is none), I started clearing some room and asked Tom Nook to move her house.
That's how I found out the poor bear was sick today! Wearing her pyjamas to Resident Services.β€
The forest progress is underway.
Things villagers say....
I've decided to add no context to this picture of Agnes.
I'm doing a major overhaul on the island! First stop, I've extended the woodland area. I hope it looks really lovely when summer rolls around. I've used lots of oranges, reds and yellows, as well as lots of green trees and shrubs. Megan's house is also placed along the pathway!
I've also renovated the area around Patty's and Poppy's houses. The shrubs just happened to be coming into bloom, so I wanted to snap a pic, and Patty decided she'd join in! β€
In the background is Poppy's house!
The renovations continue, albeit slowly. Yesterday I broke about a dozen colourful shovels replanting flowers.
Villager kindness
Award for sweetest villager today goes to Rhonda, who found an ant in her house, and decided that it was raining too much to put it outside. What a cutie.
Looking at this pic, I realise I've just gifted Rhonda a dress she already had.
That's all for today. I hope to finally update here with a DA soon. β€
