When playing NL did anyone else miss the little science-y explanations that Blathers sometimes gave about the different bugs/fossils you donated? I really hope they add this to NH!

I thought he still explained if you gave one thing at a time? Lol maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t want it back personally. In the other versions I always felt he talked to much. Maybe he could ask if you wanted him to explain though. That way everyone could get what they wanted.

What I hope is that they let Blathers give you tours of the Museum where he would follow you around the exhibits. Then once you select an item, he gives his explanation of it. I think this would be the best way to let his personality show while not taking up too much time when you donate the item. Since as the above poster mentioned, it can get annoying to have him talk forever about every item you give him. It would also mean that if you like reading his explanations, you can ask him to do it whenever you want, as opposed to only once when you first give him the item.

I would also prefer the option to choose whether you want to listen to Blather's fun facts, which usually had to do with how to cook the fish you donated, lol. I like the descriptions of the stuff you donate to the museum, but I'd also like to access them when looking through the bug/fish/underwater collections.

But yeah, Blather's didn't do much blathering in NL, I kinda miss it.

Yes, I miss Blathers' speeches so much! I was so disappointed the first time I donated something in New Leaf and all he said was something about reminding him of a time he was in baby feathers and then he cut himself off saying he was rambling again. I was literally crying at the screen, "No, please ramble! What have they done to you?!"

I wouldn't mind if they made it optional with a choice to listen to his explantion or skip it so those who don't want to listen to him will also be happy, but I really hope they bring it back for those of us who do miss it.

I also love MapleSilver's idea of being able to ask him for a tour at anytime. In the original GameCube version, I do remember clicking through an explanation by accident once and I was so upset that I couldn't get him to repeat it. Well, I guess I could have if I reset, but I didn't want to do that and lose my progress.

I miss it too! I think he should ask you if you'd like him to continue with his deduction and of course yes I will! Then you get a reward in Nook Miles - 'I Listened to Blathers Blather and learned something reward'
I love learning about anything I can! ♡♡♡

I like the scientific descriptions in the museum, and I think Blathers should also ask to blather about the thing you're donating. In the previous game he usually didn't share many facts, just his personal opinion on the critter. Some of the scientific descriptions had a mention of how to eat the fish, which seemed a bit out of place; Blathers should say that instead. And it'd be kind of funny if they gave him unique complaints over every single bug you donated.

Honestly no I hard smashed the B button to pass the dialogue

i miss blathers long explanations, especially after starting a new city folk town and getting him talking again, made me realise how much of his personality was stripped in NL. im hoping he comes back with a revamp and lots of his old charm :)

there should be a choice It would be kinda like this

Blathers:
Hooo, a Coelacanth! what a catch you have, you must be a good angler if you could real this beast in, Would you like to hear more about this fish/insect?
>Yes
No
Some other time

It would work (and while were at it...if the museum isn't available at first, i wonder if the faraway museum will make a return)

I hope he starts blathering again (,:: and that we have the option to skip through it fast with x or something lol

If he does, I hope that the information is available again where the donation is located. Whenever I was unsure what I wanted to do in New Leaf, I would always love stopping by the museum to read the blurbs!

As for the "too long" topic, what could be good to counter this is if you donate multiple items, it would not do the blurbs. Though, if you were to donate them one at a time, you would get a blurb for each one. I really hope this is what is implemented!

This seems to be the best solution. I hope Blathers will explain stuff for donations again or tell a story from his past, while we are somehow still able to donate multiple things at once. Donating everything individually can also get tedious quite fast, especially with the number of things we can donate.

No. Animal Crossing is by far the worst game at giving you useless dialog when you're just trying to do chores that repeat 1-100000 million times a day.

The worst of this is the greetings you receiving when entering and exiting shops.

I like the idea of there being an option for Blathers to tell us more about our donations. I feel scrapping his desire to, well, blather, really removes a lot from his personality, and I think New Leaf made the biggest mistake in scrapping villager personalities for the sake of convenience for the player in general.

Bring back the varied dialogue, with disgruntled villagers that actually act rude like they used to!

Okay, but that's a really nice idea and I sure hope New Horizons offers something like this. Would be kinda adorable if he's more sleepy at daytime and much more active at nighttime whenever you ask him for a museum tour. Speaking of the explanations, while I get it that not everyone was/is such a huge fan of them and may also found those annoying, I honestly missed them a lot in New Leaf. With Blathers just repeating the same sentence over and over again whenever you donated something, it felt like as if they made him dull, which is kinda sad because he's one of my favorite NPCs and compared to the previous titles, I really don't like it how he acted in the 3DS title. I sure hope he gets his passion for his job back and also become more talkative again. Overall, I welcome it if the museum as well as Blathers (and Celeste) becoming more interesting.
