I assume we have to buy coffee from him for a week to get him to like us if it's like the older games. But I noticed no no gyroid storage or part-time job this time around? I would gladly give up the amiibo thing just to have those two features back. Do you think he has his own unique gyroids that he can give us?

We don’t know, to be honest. The direct did show a Gyroid storage room in The Roost (and what looked like a gyroid info sheet). I’m guessing it’ll work similar to previous games. I doubt we get to work there though

If the working at the Roost mechanic exists in New Horizons, it makes sense to not show it in the Direct so as to not confuse casual viewers with the paid DLC centered around going to work

That makes sense but I’m still not sure. It would be neat if they reshaped the game though. Like imagine we have to deliver coffee to NPCs or villagers.

The Direct didn't show us everything there is to experience. It's leaving it up to us to experience on our own. What the Roost has to offer is a secret as of now.
