I’ve reached my bridge quota but could do with just 1 more, can I make a “land bridge” in island designer or will this have an adverse effect on fish or anything?

I don't think so.

Could you swap a bridge with stepping stones elsewhere instead, perhaps?

Oh, this thread comes in a great time, as I was thinking about the limit of bridges/inclines and I would love to know how many of each you can build.

I have 7 inclines/ladders atm, and I think I would need other 2. I would hate to have to demolish one because I would need to change a huge section of my island to do that.

I believe the limit is 8 bridges and 8 ramps.

There's no side effects I know of for using makeshift bridges. I do it all the time

Yes there is a limit 8 bridges and 8 ramps , I was just checking with Tom nook after I reached my limit and he says you have to demolish bridge or ramp first then build it where you want it

Welp, I think I'll need to come up with a different solution then. I really don't want to demolish the whole northeast section of the island just to make one extra ladder available. I'll see what I can do with that last ladder... Thank you!

I've only used five bridges.

I wish the remainder could rollover and be added to inclines, and vice versa for those wanting more bridges.

In one of my older versions of my island, I had a "mountain area" that was only accessible by cliff jumping because I ran out of inclines. Erik lived on that cliff, so when he was roaming around outside his house he could not climb down or leave that area. Thankfully, villagers that are blocked off are still able to "teleport" to other areas while off camera/if you refresh. So if you do make a bridge with stepping stones, they wont be able to cross it while you are observing them but they will still be able to access other areas. They'll use a generic land bridge without stepping stones with no problem!
