So I've recently gotten bruised ribs. Well, I say recently, it was about 5 weeks ago.
Anyway...
It's terrible. I get it through the whole day. I try to calm myself and the pain down but it doesn't work, especially when I'm at school and I get it during the most boring lessons ever. I accidentally focus on it too much and it just makes it worse.
I've been taking ibuprofen ever since my doctor told me to a few days after I got it. The other day it didn't hurt for the whole day and I thought it was gone, so I didn't take any painkillers that day. Wrong. Next day it hurt like hell and was like usual.
The only time it's not causing so much pain I want to die on the spot is when I'm sleeping, when I've just woken up in the morning, when I'm distracted by something that really takes my mind off the pain (like when I'm reading a book and I get really into it, or when I'm eating or watching YouTube videos, things like that), when I've taken painkillers and when I lie down for a while and be patient for it to go away.
I've stopped taking ibuprofen because 1) it worries my parents a lot that I'm taking about 4 tablets a day and I don't want them to worry about me and 2) I feel like I need to get over this and try to tackle it by myself (which of course doesn't work, because I'm extremely weak to handle the pain alone).
I feel so alone with this. I have no one who can relate to me.
I've tried doing all of the things all of those medical websites say, like not doing physical activities (I got one Physical Education lesson off, and my mum's saying I can't miss out on any more lessons); resting in a comfortable position for as long as I can; breathing normally and deeply every so often... But it's really not going away.
Does anyone have, or has anyone had, bruised ribs before? What was it like for you, and how did you get rid of it quickly? I'm starting to feel like I have something severely wrong with me because it hasn't gone away yet.
Thanks~
