Buried native perfect fruit - no perfect fruit tree.

Hello guys and girls!

I am playing Animal Crossing together with my mom, we both have our own copies of the game and we love it!
So a while ago I got my perfect fruit (peach) and started my own perfect fruit factory. Money problems belonged to the past.
Unfortunately my mom has not been that lucky... she continued playing anyway, always planting lots of cherrie trees (cherries are her native fruit) and a few days ago she finally got her perfect cherry.

We planted it together; carefully chose a spot. I told her to chop down an existing tree and to plant her perfect fruit in the hole.
Today the tree had his first load of fruit: normal cherries, not a single perfect one.

Needless to say that she is very sad and devastated.

So does anybody know what could went wrong?

I feel sooo sorry for her and want her to get her own perfect fruits...

It would be awesome if I could get some help or an advice.
I have not much to trade for, all I can offer are some perfect peaches and I doubt that someone with cherries would want them... *sigh*

I've never heard of the perfect trees not working, though. x.x Maybe it was because you put it where another tree had been?

Even so, that ought to have worked :/ That's how I got my perfect apple production started, because I didn't want to risk my single perfect apple becoming a dud by planting in a dead spot.

That happened to me when I restarted. I planted my perfect apple too close to the edge. If you happen to get apples, Midget, could you grab the perfect one and drop it off in my town?

My native fruits are cherries as well but I have only ever found 1 perfect (the day I bought New Leaf). If I ever find another one, I will gift it to your mom as well ^^

You guys should really make a little thread about those sort of giveaways. Like, one big thread where everyone can ask and offer things to other people, excluding villagers due to the Villager Exachange and Giveaway threads.

Perfect cherries are more legit than other perfect fruits. It's my opinion :/ They just look more nice and cool.

It is indeed strange that my mom didn't get the perfect cherries. I was sitting right next to her and advised here where to bury the fruit... it was right next to the ReTail shop. There already was a mango tree or something.
I told her to chop it down and do drop the fruit in the hole.
The only thing that was a bit strange (maybe just a coincidence?): she was overly happy and ran around the tree in circles.
So there were just dirt patches surrounding the little tree. I have no idea if that could have affected something or not...

Perfect fruit trees are fragile, they die easier than a normal one, so you need to plant them and leave them, plant them somewhere no villagers walk too, that'd help. I'd make sure there is 1-2 spaces all around the tree with nothing in them.
