Well, I got real bored this morning so decided to colour in another one of the comic ideas I had laying about. Uh, this introduces the main character. Basically, I'm planning for the thing to be set in a military junta within a fictional former Soviet Socialist Republic. It doesn't explain his Romanian name, but who cares?

The colouring is a bit sloppy in places and I didn't include all the little details, but there you go.

I'm really enjoying the use of gradients so far, but I would say try to smooth out the longer strokes, if you are using flash try playing around with the pencil tool settings a bit.

I'm guessing illustrator for the actual drawing.

Nah, I just scanned it and penned it in Photoshop. I was thinking of using Illustrator to give more variety to lines... but I kinda forgot to do that.

The gradients are really just quick swipes with a massive feathered brush. It's a pretty quick process and allows you to be more precise than with the gradient tool. As for the lines... yeah, I tried to make it appear a little more like fabric... I must admit that it's a pretty sloppy job, but I reckon I could fix it.
