Hello everyone!
I personally want a switch, but I didn't start wanting one until Nintendo offically released some teasers for AC:NH.
That had me thinking, does anyone else want a switch just for AC:NH? Or not even just that, but did the game inspire them to want to get one?
I'm pretty sure I won't be able to get a switch for a while, it's hella expensive smh. So I would probably get one, if I could, a few months after the initial release of AC:NH.
Also, do you guys agree with how expensive the game and switch is?

There are some titles I like a lot on the Switch, though I didn't know that. I initially went to buy it to get a filler game and mainly for new horizons.

But there's: splatoon2 , skyrim, spyro trilogy, spongebob battle for bikini bottom (coming out next year), and even more that I KIND OF want to play

So...YES, I would buy it just for ACNH, but with knowing there may be a couple of titles I might like, like how I got the 3DS just for ACNL

Waiting won't kill you, if that's what you have to do, then so be it. Besides, would you want to play blind or have some guides to help out?

I agree with the guides and stuff, I remember getting AC:NL in 2014 when I first got a 3DS. There were already so many videos on it, and it honestly made my enjoy the game even more.

I used to go on Miitomo, and questions like are you buying a Nintendo Switch would be asked for a question of the week.

I knew AC would eventually be released for the Switch and made sure Nintendo (through their marketing in Miitomo) knew that I only wanted a Switch primarily because AC would be released on it. There are a bunch of other games I would love to play on it but they don't motivate me to the extent that AC does.
It's crazy how there are so many other games I want to play but I'm crazy about AC so I've just been playing the waiting game.
The other factor that has actually prevented me from buying a Switch is because they update the models to improve our gaming experience and I that I just can't really afford one.
It takes some saving but then sometimes other things in life take priority for the use of the money and so I just can't reach the set goal.
I was also hoping for an AC special Switch too, so although I want it on its release date, I'm probably not going to get it then.
I know I'll be playing it one day haha (/∀︎\*))キャハ♪︎"

I bought my Switch because I knew an Animal Crossing game must be coming out soon.
In the meantime, Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssee surprised me and were awesome games to play.

I think most people that plan on buying a console for one particular game will invariably go on to purchase other games.

I mean, owning a Switch and not BOTW (one of the best games ever made in my opinion) should be made a criminal offence (kidding).

I got a switch because my two brothers had one, I play smash and Pok?mon, also getting animal crossing

I'm basically in the same boat as you. I want a switch and the game, but not at release date because of the price.

My plan was to buy a switch when a new AC game was announced. I ended up buying it for BOTW and I don't regret it at all! I play a ton of other games on it while I'm waiting for ACNH, but I'm sure that's going to be my main game once it comes out :> If I hadn't bought a switch earlier I definitely would have bought one specifically for ACNH (that's kind of what I did for ACNL). I'm even considering getting a switch lite for my brother if there's an ACNH version for it.

Nope, AC had no influence on me buying a Switch. I just thought the concept of a hybrid console was (and still is) amazing. It's exactly what I wanted the Wii U to be, personally. Now, there are so many games to play and have fun with, AC is just the very big cherry on top.

The only reason I bought a switch almost a year and a half ago, was becuase Animal Crossing and I wanted batter graphics for some games, so I guess I kind of did!

I bought a switch at release Because I knew animal crossing would eventually come out on it lol.

I bought a switch the year they came out because an Animal Crossing game was inevitable.

Also, with a Switch, I can now play BoTW, BoTW2, Metroid Prime 4. SBB, and more.

I got a switch when it first came out because I loved the idea of being able to play on my tv or on the go, the controllers were interesting, and BOTW looked absolutely GORGEOUS.
I figured there would be an animal crossing game as well and that heavily influenced me to get one.

I just got done reading everyone's response!
Honestly, I wonder when they are going to drop down the price for the switch, like they do for almost every console.

And, is it just me, or am I getting pocket camp vibes from AC:NH? probably since the graphics are better haha

I was given a secind hand switch as a combined birthday present from Like 18 odd people when I turned 19, so I was incredibly lucky. The next day I immediately went out and bought splatoon 2. I had been saving up for months to get a pre-owned switch or Wii u, so I'm lucky my friends were really thoughtful With their gift. That being said, I probably still would have gotten a switch at some point (I've put down an order for a Wii u a week ago) as I really wanted to play splatoon 2 and Mario Odessy.

I bought it mainly for ACNH. I am a PS4/PC player so not really into most of the Nintendo stuff. However I love Zelda and wanted to play botw as well as luigis mansion and pokemon. Xenoblade is also great so there are some pretty neat games for the switch and if you are interested as well in a few games it qill be worh it.

I would buy the switch only for acnh xD

Animal Crossing was definitely the driving force in me wanting a Switch in the first place, but I think the success of Breath of the Wild also helped a lot. It's just such a great concept for a console, and I'm glad Nintendo finally figured out how to do it properly. I can only play in handheld mode, but the quality alone is worth it. The amount of good games has also been incredible.

As for the prices... it is what it is. Handheld consoles were always cheaper, like the PS2 released at $299 as well, the Switch Lite released at a cheaper price than the 3DS. That kind of tech has always been expensive, it's a luxury good after all. As far as games go... going from 40 to 60 is definitely just going with what people have learned to accept. If this is what gave leeway to accept as many indie games & AAA classics as possible on the Switch, I'm okay with it. I think the Switch developed into something nobody could predict. It'll be here for a long time as long as Nintendo keeps up the quality in the exclusives.

If you're waiting for a price drop, I'm pretty sure it won't come anytime soon. New Horizon and BOTW2 will keep the hype up for the time being, the Lite is the cheap alternative and I'm sure we'll see new models first. The only thing worth waiting for is a AC Switch, but it'll probably be a Switch Lite like they did for Pok?mon.

Just got done reading all the new replies!
I found out today that there are some deals with extras coming with the pre-order of AC:NH :) as an example, some have tote bags, pins, etc
I also saw some AC switch covers!
