So since the last Nintendo Direct, lots of you guys have been expressing the fear that Nintendo would market the Animal Crossing amiibo set with random bags since there should be over 300 cards to that deck. But who wants to end up with 10 Goose cards when all you want is a single Monique card ? You don't want to spend 100$ in randomized bags if all you want is a couple of cards. As these cards have an impact on your gameplay, it's not just a matter of collecting your favorite ones, it's also a part of the game. I'm sure, in the end, players will want to pay a bit more for a single card if Nintendo let them choose which one he buys. So here is what I'm proposing :

Do you guys have Twitter ? If you do, use Twitter to write to @trintran (Bill Trinen) and @NintendoAmerica to tell them you do not want randomized bags for Animal Crossing amiibos. I did and if we are enough to do so, to let him know that, maybe we can get satisfaction.

Have Animal Crossing fans always been this whiny and entitled or did I accidentally get on a general anime discussion forum?

Also, you don't *need* every card for the game, or even your favorites.

Also, what if Goose is my favorite villager and I want to have a party with Goose and 9 Goose clones? What then?

First of all us fans aren't whiny at all so please be respectful to the FP also we sorta do because its different with every villager and for those AC fans who want all the cards it would be fun. Or for those AC Fans who dont want to end up having a Goose card they can get all the other cards but the Goose card. It would make life a bit more fun instead of ripping us off and getting so many repeats of the same card.

get friends to trade with? trade through tbt? It only takes 60c-$3 for an envelope with a card

best thing would be selling them in group packs

like nmr 1- 10 / 11-20 / 21-30 so u know what cards u will get and never the same twice...
unless u buy the same pack twice ofc :)

@LambdaDelta
imagine a fullhouse of your worst villager ever :) parteh on eh :D :D

only when u fully trust someone,
shouldnt be that hasty with giving some1 your adress eh :D

You realize that there's (unofficial) online shops for basically every card game, right? Just buy Monique there.

The only way people couldn't get duplicates/repeats or ugly villagers would be to individually package literally all 350+ cards. That would be an even worse idea. There's a reason why all card games use random bags, you know. (other than money lol)

This is a great idea! I completely support this! However, I don't have (or want) a Twitter account, so I won't be able to do this. D: I'm also not sure if Nintendo would listen if we did this (maybe they'll just ignore us), but it's worth a shot! :)

If it ends up being that the cards are randomized, I guess we could buy/sell them individually for about a $1 each on ebay or trade with someone online (if you traded with someone online, you'd need to be very careful about who to give your home address to, though).

That's not at all what I've noticed the past few days.

also we sorta do because its different with every villager

And? That's a want, not a need. I don't need every card to build a Yu-Gi-Oh! deck, and you certainly don't need every amiibo card for their known usage here.

and for those AC fans who want all the cards it would be fun.

Again, that's a want. Also, the satisfaction of collecting every card is kind of defeated if you can just get them all handed to you right away.

Or for those AC Fans who dont want to end up having a Goose card they can get all the other cards but the Goose card.

I don't need a bunch of Batteryman Cs, so clearly I must complain about this to Konami.

It would make life a bit more fun instead of ripping us off and getting so many repeats of the same card.

See? This is exactly what I'm talking about with being whiny and entitled.

Also, are you people familiar with what a vocal minority is?

Then following the statistics, you would have to buy more than 3000 cards. Even if cards were sold at the low price of a dollar each, that means spending 3000$ for those 10 Goose cards.

Don't post a thread if you don't want viewpoints that run counter to your own.

It's not "whiny." There is a point to this. People are not wanting duplicate villager cards, from any randomized packaging, because of two reasons: 1) the costs; 2) the use.

I don't know anything more about the "Happy Home Design" spinoff series than what has been presented here at The Bell Tree Forums. I do know that I want more information before I will make a decision whether to become involved with it. The notion of randomized villager cards does not appeal to me. I think the packaging should include all cards (villagers, non-villagers like Isabelle, et al.). My feeling is this: Just present a complete package and us, the consumers, will decide if we are going to buy.

Sorry, but you're going to have to stop this behavior by the time you turn six, okay? It's fine now since you're obviously only five, but it's really starting to get out of control. If you don't a) use your brain and b) develop basic reading comprehension skills, I'm going to have to make a phone call to your parents.

You do not need these cards. You do not have to get these cards. And you especially do not have to buy these cards from a store. There are TONS of online stores that sell cards, usually for less that cost of pack/cards in pack + shipping. What's wrong with buying cards this way?

Then following the statistics, you would have to buy more than 3000 cards. Even if cards were sold at the low price of a dollar each, that means spending 3000$ for those 10 Goose cards.

If you're going to troll people, at least use Comic Sans.

Ok, and how is this different from any TCG release that puts cards randomly distributed in booster packs?

...How exactly would a complete set solve everything?

The whole point is that they're collectible. You buy packs, and if you get duplicates and trade them to get the villagers you like and/or a complete set if you want that. Selling already-finished sets would completely defeat the point of them being you know, collectible. And what are you even going to do with 400+ (including NPCs and stuff) cards anyways? You can't make a deck. Are you honestly saying that you'd play with every single one of them? How is playing with Jambette, T-Bone, and Tabby for the sake of completion any more fun than playing with your favourite villager three more times?

yeah and also people would be less inclined to collect all of these than literally any other TCG in existence lol

I'm of the opinion that the entire amiibo thing is another way for Nintendo to make money, and the card booster pack method is exactly how CCG/TCG companies operate to make tons of money off of the players.
It's just how it works; if you buy a booster pack, you get a bunch of commons, perhaps an uncommon, and if you're lucky, you get a rare or super rare card. Then, after you've sunk a lot of money in it, you're stuck with 10+ copies of the same card worth maybe $0.10 a piece.
The formula is nothing new. Companies like Wizards (MtG) and Konami (YuGiOh) have been using that method for years with their TCGs.

If you want an individual card, there are always places to buy them (game shops would sell individual cards at the counter for TCGs, for instance...these days, you can easily find them online; I'm sure it'll be no different).

All those in favor, I honestly do wish you good luck, but I don't think Nintendo will agree to it even with a fully signed petition. Amiibos are Nintendo's versions of collectables...and in this case, their version of a CCG.
