Can a goldfish save your life?

Okay so tbh usually the reason people will pay a lot for surgeries for a dog/cat cause the dog/cat was pretty pricey $$ to begin with... Like spending 500$ on a 50 cent goldfish is literally paying 1000 times more than the fish cost initially

So like I don't think there's anything a goldfish could ever do for you I think that lady is just stupid

I'm pretty sure people spend lots of money on their dogs and cats because they love them and they don't want someone they love to die and clearly that's how this lady felt about her fish.

I actually have a goldfish. I won him at a game of Hook the Duck when I was around seven. It's still growing strong! I think all creatures on this planet are of significance, no matter their size or capabilities. I know if my goldfish (Nemo) was in danger, I'd do as much as I could to help him! I know he'd do the same, if only he could.

EDIT: Also, why is everyone saying eat it? Is killing things really the only thing you find animals useful for? That's so sad, for you.

I guess it could be eaten. It wouldn't taste very good though and it probably would be like 95% bones though

lol this thread makes me want another fish, i think i might buy another in the future

Why the heck would you eat your own pet man this is ridiculous.

That being said I wouldn't be able to spend that kind of money on a goldfish unless I was super rich.

The fact that you genuinely care so much about this to make a thread makes me really happy. c:

Hm.. A goldfish can give your life meaning because it's dependent on you for its survival. But that was already covered... Maybe a goldfish could scare someone who was about to murder you away because the murderer has a phobia of fish? x)

Well there are some fish who go crazy around the time of a storm. I used to have a weather loach and 2 fish and all 3 of them would be bouncing up and down in the tank right before we had bad weather. I don't know if fish are smart enough to just copy the weather loaches behaviour or if some fish do this anyway....but if you're in an area that gets quite dangerous storms and your fish warn you about them, I'd say that would come pretty close to saving a life

...That's actually a really hard question. It's kind of hard when the fish's mobility is limited to water. I can't really think of anything without it being too impractical. Maybe if it jumped out of its tank to distract an intruder?
