Can you find only one villager per day on a nook island?

I recently made four new plots in my island. Afterwards, I went on a nook island and found Megan who I asked to move to my place. I want to invite more villagers but after that no more were appearing on the islands. So this makes me think if it is limited to inviting only one villager a day.

If you still have empty plots with no sold sign on them, then you can continue to find villagers on the island.

Correct, I have experienced the same the past two days, it’s either that or the queue of villagers moving in is too long

Or maybe it depends on where you are in the story mode? I have a second island and I've invited Merengue (first 3 move ins) to move in this morning. I'm still finding villagers on islands and I can invite them.

Yes, unlike with the first 3 island recruits, from what I've read, it's one per day no matter how many plots you place.
So if you recruit someone from the island today, you can go on another trip tomorrow and more villagers will spawn.
