I personally love candles, scented and unscented. they give off a really nice glow at night, especially the ones with multiple wicks. I have a few that smell really nice too. I almost always have a candle lit in my room.
my mom doesn't like them cause she says they're a fire hazard. which they are, but I never have one lit unless I'm actively in the room to watch it. I also have it placed in a location where no animals can reach it. my dog is a bit oblivious around an open flame lol.
I'm a combination of I love them yet I also don't use them much. I can find it pretty difficult to justify buying them most of the time but I do really enjoy them. I have a few of those plug in scent warmer type of things and they just definitely aren't the same as a real candle in terms of the ambience they produce.
i do like them but i cant really go shopping for them as im extremely sensitive to fragrances. i will light them occasionally but i agree that they are a fire hazard. i could have burnt my house down growing up by lighting 3 big bois on the top of my bookcase and then leaving to hang out with friends. these candles had no glass or holder whatsoever so wax dripped everywhere all over the bookcase. truly spooky, always keep track of your flames :c thankfully nothing caught fire, and i dont light candles without any container/holder anymore
I like candles and used them a lot when I was a teenager. Nothing really has quite the same effect as sitting in a dark, candlelit room, especially if the candles have a nice scent.
But when I moved into my own apartment, I stopped using them. I was more likely to go back and forth between rooms, leaving them unattended. Plus, I had animals that could knock them over or burn their tails. They were also an unnecessary expense.
I absolutely love candles! sadly a rare treat to be able to have a proper one. I have a few rechargeable candles which seem a bit sad but I have a very inquisitive cat so more stressful than relaxing
I don't mind them but have never had any in the house because my mom is extremely sensitive to fragrances. I would also be a bit anxious about the fire hazard.
I love candles!! I have a handful and while I don’t light them all the time I do enjoy having them. I have a candle holder in my room where I sew. It’s far enough out of the way that I’m not worried about knocking it over and the candle sits in a little glass case basically so I feel a bit better that I likely won’t accidentally catch something on fire because it’s not directly out in the open.
I like lighting candles in the fall when I’m sewing things! Most of my candles are more fall/holiday scented and they make me so happy. I opt candles that smell like baked goods of some kind mostly. My dad doesn’t love candles (was a chronic smoker for years but draws the line at candle smoke ) so I don’t light them often but the odd weekend here or there doesn’t bother him.
I have a big candle that I’ve never actually lit but taking the lid off of it makes my room smell really nice so that’s good enough for me!
I've bought candles before specially for around Christmas time but it does scare me to have them lit for long. When I still lived at home with my parents, my sister would frequently forget about her lit candles and even left home once without blowing out the candles in her room. Now when it's lit in my house I gotta keep an eye on it. Especially since I have fluffy cats and when I light a candle, they wanna look at it on the coffee table. Candles just feel too risky for me to use daily.
Candles are cool. I have a ton of them from when I do reenactments because we try to be periodic correct and that is the light source they used. Of course, I keep a flashlight and my phone handy just in case. Some of the designs they used for candles and oil lanterns back in the day are pretty cool. I bought one of each to use at reenactments cause they're just cool.
The whale oil lanterns are pretty neat to. They don't make reproductions of those and they are super expensive as original. (Bullseyes lantern) But those aren't really candles.
I tried to also melt beeswax into my canteen to insulate the water better and give it a taste that didn't taste so metal. It really didn't work and I ended up with a mouthful of wax chunks in the summer heat lol.
Candles aren't any worse of a fire hazard than cooking is as long as you don't leave them unattended. And ESPECIALLY don't let free roaming pets go near them. I have heard stories of people's house burning down because they lit a candle, left the house, and then their dog who was home alone accidentally knocked the candle over.
I like candles but I am a bit fragrance sensitive. I generally prefer vanilla, wood-scented, and cinnamon scents in general. So many other candle scents are generally too strong and give me a headache, especially the flowery scented ones.
I like candles! I went through a phase where I was buying them more than actually using them, but they're nice to have going sometimes while I'm reading or watching movies during the night. I just keep one or two out in my room usually and only really light them for a couple hours at a time while I'm in there. I love lots of the fall scents and candles that are meant to smell like the ocean are my favorites.
I personally LOVE candles! Receiving them as gifts is my favorite because I find them to be kinda expensive.
I ultimately decided to buy a wax candle warmer - but it’s super cute and glows so I still feel the candle vibe. It just feels more budget and eco friendly. I was throwing out so many empty glass jars before and now I only have to buy the wax, which tends to last longer, as well. 10/10 would recommend!
I enjoy making candles, and have them all over my house <3
I usually use a wax warmer instead of lighting candles, because I'm allergic to smoke and also I hate the smell when you put them out lol
Floral or baked goods scents are my favorites! And I really like making cute decorative ones with molds that I refuse to melt lol
I actually love candles. I love scented things and diffusers. I’m getting a diffuser with different scents when I get my own apartment, which should be by the end of this year or start of next year.
target has this lemon mint candle, and it has an essential oil that smells of it, too. it's my favorite, I'm not sure why lemon and mint aren't a more common scent
I love nice candles, but end up not using them as much since the lighter isn't in my room and I'm a bit too lazy to go grab it. I like mild floral scents and coffee scents!
I love scented candles so much. I usually light one if I have company coming and regularly keep one on the kitchen. I also like the unscented ones just for ambiance. Because of my health issues I have poor control of my hands/fingers so it can be kind of tough to light regular candles. Usually I have to use a longer lighter or have help so I don't light them as much as I'd like.
Recently for fire hazard purposes I've made the switch to some battery operated LED candles. They're cool, but just not the same as real ones. I'll probably use the fake ones more but still love a good real deal candle on occasion!
I don't use them because my apartment complex doesn't allow any open flames. So instead I use a scentsy plug in wax warmer which I love. There's tons of different scents and they're so relaxing. I just recently bought some pumpkin patch scented wax cubes by Better Homes and Gardens on Amazon, and also some Vanilla Caramel spice scented ones. My favorites of Scentsy brand are the lemon sorbet, French lavender, and vanilla bean buttercream.
