Cash or Card?

Cash or card?

I am lazy and have my card on my phone. Normally works so well until shops lose Wi-Fi and then can’t pay 🙈 I always have a few quid in my handbag but if not available I am stuck.

I use both but I prefer using card because it's so much faster and I also don't need to count if I got the correct change. If I shop at a small business I prefer to use cash so they don't need to pay any extra charges though.

mostly use apple pay on my phone to pay for things as it's quick and easy, I used to withdraw a set amount of cash to just use that and limit what I spent but am usually quite sensible with money anyway and find cards/paying on my phone less of a hassle. do count money at work though and it often surprises me how much cash is still used but everyone has their preferences.

I try to carry a little bit of cash in case I'm ever in a weird situation where I need paper money. I don't typically use it, though.

I think the older stereotypes about cash vs. card are really interesting--I grew up with the idea that it was good to pay with cash because it made the payment feel "real" so you were aware of what you were spending, while swiping your card made the payment feel sort of invisible and immaterial.

However, I keep track of my bank account, so I feel like that trend has reversed itself, at least for me. Cash almost feels like "bonus money." It never went into my bank account in the first place, so it doesn't feel like a huge deal to spend it, either, whereas swiping my credit card actually subtracts money from my total balance.

I use card because my bag is too small to carry cash, especially coins in a wallet, but I must admit I prefer handling cash than using my card.

I have cash but I don’t usually take it with me to places. What I usually use is Apple Pay because it’s more convenient.

I used a credit card for a lot of things now because even though it takes forever once I reach a certain percent I can take the money that accumulated from all the purchases and get like $50. Fifty bucks is fifty bucks. I also carry cash though.

When I went on vacation to the Caribbeans in June I had to bring a lot of cash because there were a lot of times that physical money was the only way to pay for things or services.

i almost never carry cash on me, i'm a card girlie. i should maybe try and start to carry a little bit on me in case of emergencies cause you never know when you need it. i've never been the type to use things like apple pay or adding my card to my phone, i'm just not at that point yet lol i only just recently added tap to my card cause i was lowkey really wary of it

I never carry cash, but whenever I somehow do I kinda like it because it feels like it's free cuz I don't see the payment on my bank account

I definitely use my credit card(s) 99% of the time and only use cash for that 1% where I have no choice but to use it. I think it just makes more sense for me to use credit cards with rewards attached to it for things that i’m already going to buy anyways and as long as you’re responsible enough to pay it back each statement it’s basically a discount you can’t get when paying cash. I do carry some cash on me, not much though and then I’ll also leave a coin purse in my car with quarters just in case I need them.

Online, i only use certain credit cards to shop, never my bank card. Had the bad experience of having my stuff hacked. No fun.
Smart, I had the same thing happen using a card at a gas pump, and someone was able to steal the number and pin (this was probably 10 years ago). I now have more than one card, one of which only has enough for something like gas or small purchases, so if it happens again I don't have everything wiped out.

The bank was able to get my money back, but it was a process, and at the time, I was scrounging for couch change to eat ramen until it was worked out.

i'm strictly card only. i use one of those card wallets since i tend to carry smaller purses so i don't have room to carry cash with me typically. plus cash is messy with bills and coins. i don't want to carry an extra pouch to store them in. i do think it's smart to carry cash around just in case but usually i'm not at places that accepts cash only. if i anticipate going somewhere like that like a fair or something then i will prepare cash. otherwise i never have any on me.
