Which one out of the two do you like more, Celebi or Jirachi?

Although I do like the Onion Fairy aka Celebi a lot, my favorite will always be Jirachi. Ever since I saw Jirachi for the first time on a poster from a kids magazine (yes, that's how I got to know this Pokemon, I just started around that time to become a bigger fan of Pokemon), I felt in love with the little star head. I would even say this it's on my Top 5 favorite Pokemon and it's also one of the few legendary Pokemon I actually really like (since I'm normally not really such a huge fan of them).

WHY MUST THIS DECISION BE SO TOUGH.

I'm going strictly based on appearance for this. I'd have to say Jirachi, though Celebi's eyes are amazing.

I like Celebi but I love Jirachi more. It's much cuter and more interesting to me. It's also very dangerous in battle thanks to it's serene grace!

P.S. These two should definitely be Fairy type IMO

I think I like Jirachi more, partly cause I'm impartial toward Gen 3, but also because the shape of Celebi's head is kinda weird to me lol

Yeah, I prefer Jirachi as well for the reasons listed above, as well as personal reasons (I have a really close online friend that I still talk to who used to go by Jirachi in the past). Celebi is nice and all, but I can’t really fathom it being as powerful and exceptional as a Pokemon like Jirachi.

Also, steel/psychic typing for the win (though I do agree they should both be part fairy type now).

I'm going to go with the trend thus far and say that I prefer Jirachi as well. A long while ago I would have probably said that I preferred Celebi, but sometime during Generation 5 I decided to get the Pok?mon Colosseum Bonus Disc for access to Wishmaster Jirachi both for my own use and as trading fodder. I came to appreciate Jirachi more after that point. The Steel/Psychic dual-typing is good and that, its stats, and its moveset allow it the freedom to perform a number of different roles depending on what you want to do with it. It's pretty cute, the lore of its ability to grant wishes is neat, and it even has a third eyeball in the middle of its torso that it opens sometimes. Cool.

Also, considering the little blue tags on its head are seemingly references to Tanabata wish tags and since they've released shiny Jirachis to celebrate Tanabata in the past, I wish the would release one internationally someday just for the sake of it. As a shiny hunter and a fan of Jirachi, I'd really appreciate that.

All that said, Celebi is also neat and I like it, just not as much. Grass is my favorite type, so that's a positive right off the bat. It has a mystique similar to but less intense than Mew's for me, since it didn't seem to be widely released outside of Japan during Generation 2. Since I took a break from Pok?mon from the start of Gen 3 up until HeartGold & SoulSilver's released, and because to my knowledge there wasn't a glitch similar to the one you could use in Red & Blue to catch Mew, it remained for years one of those things I wanted to acquire someday. I managed to get one during Generation 4 from a GameStop event, and then another one from Generation 6, but I've had far fewer of them. The time travel gimmick is neat, and the mini in-game event in HeartGold & SoulSilver featuring Silver and Giovanni was a nice touch. Oh, and since I brought up shinies with Jirachi, pink Celebi is awesome.

Suffice it to say, while Celebi's a good Pok?mon and I like a lot about it, Jirachi has more going for it as far as I'm concerned.

ONION FAIRY LOL

This decision is tough. I love Jirachi's design more, it seems cuter. I don't care about what moves a Pokemon has (most of the time) - Jirachi is super cute.

How dare you make me choose XD

It's close, but it's gonna be Jirachi. Both are adorable and powerful in their own rights, and I do like both of their films, but the celestial motif that Jirachi bears speaks to me more than that of the forest fae (I'm extremely sorry, Celebi).

Celebi has long been my favorite event Pokemon. Getting one at GameStop years ago allowed me to finish Pearl's Pokedex. Only fitting the Celebi was the one that completed it.

Omg. This one was really hard to choose, as I really love both, but I had to go with Jirachi because generation three was the one I started with awhile back and so it's always been my favorite. I guess you could say it's my home region. XD

That standing aside, both are really great in my opinion. I guess other than generation three being my starting region, I like Jirachi's looks much better than Celebi and if what everyone else is saying, Jirachi is pretty powerful. Still love Celebi though because it's pretty unique in it own way, so it's just too hard to choose at the moment. >.<

I've always liked Celebi a bit more tbh! I was born in 97, so I was a pretty young kid when gen 2 was the Hot New Gen. So my bias could easily be due to nostalgia. I always wanted to catch a Celebi in Crystal and kept checking the in-game shrine to see if it'd show up, not knowing at the time about event pokemon lmao... I was convinced it'd show up someday.

But nostalgia aside, I think they both have pretty fun designs! I don't particularly like one design over the other, though as someone who hunts pink shinies and raises them competitively, I have to admit I think Celebi's blows Jirachi's shiny out of the water. But going back to competitive, I've yet to use either of the two in a team, so I can't really judge based off of that.
