Character Limit for Towns

How long do you predict the character limit will be for naming your island? Eight, the New Leaf max, was way too short.

Yeah. 15 might be too much, but even 12 will be satisfactory in my opinion.

I'd confidently say that it'll be at least 8 again, but whether it stays at that or goes above seems equally likely *shrug*

(Probably a very unpopular opinion, but a small part of me hopes that it won't increase; working with the limitation makes it easier for me to come up with names, oddly enough)

I only need 7 for my planned name, so as long as they don't shorten it from 8, I'm good. I'm hoping for 13 for all y'all who want longer names-

All I need is nine to name my dream town/island, so...fingers crossed they up it to ten.

I don't think it's too long at all. Staten Island is 13 letters but isn't that long It's just long enough to make sure most people can name it whatever they want! But 12 would be more realistic.1

I think 8 unfortunately. I hope it’s longer though. It’s very hard to pick a name with 8. Especially since I’d like to have "isle" in the name. That leaves me with three letters if I want a space in there.

Restrictions sometimes generates creativity. Be creative. Make up a name with less than 8 caracters.

I was rewatching the Nintendo Treehouse live and I noticed it says 'Treehouse Miles' in the corner here.



Assuming Treehouse is what they named the town, that would be 9 letters! I mean, it's always possible they changed the character limit just for the live stream (since they changed stuff like the villager dialogue as well), but wouldn't it be kind of strange not to put that in the final game?

Idk, it's always been 8 characters so I don't really mind if it doesn't change, but lots of people would be happy with more options for longer or 2 word town names

Well, I hope for at least 12, so that I can put a 'New' with space in front of the town name I will choose.
Otherwise, if it's 8 again, then I can live with that too.

i think they will change the limit, i understand that 8 might work well in japanese but in english we need more characters for the names ): and i think they know that.

I would love to see the character limit being more than 8. If they do more than 8, I'll have to think really hard on a new name. I'm kinda hoping for it to be at least 10 or 12. Personally I think that's more than enough.
