Your Predictions for Switch 2 Launch Titles

not hopeful about AC6 coming out any time soon, but strangely, i’m thinking we’ll get a mainline pokemon/gen 10 installment

I may be called a normie, but I only see Mario Kart 9 being the only Switch 2 launch title. Everything else would have to wait a little longer.

I can see Smash 6 releasing in late 2025/early 2026.

A single!? launch title? That is a very very interesting prediction :)

As bold of a take as it is, I'm inclined to agree with Paperboy that Mario Kart 9 will be the only Switch 2 title at launch. I mean, realistically there may be a few others, but they'll most likely be obscure games or party games that not many people care about, lol. If they release any other big titles aside from MK9 at launch I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I could see that happening. Mario Kart as the highlight 1st party title. Maybe 1-2 Switch ports, or games releasing almost in parallel for Switch and Switch 2 (like Pokemon Legends ZA or Metroid Prime 4?). Probably a couple kiddie or party games from 3rd parties. And maybe a port of a sports game from EA or something similar.

see, this is what i feel like i’m predicting. maybe not pokemon launch title so much as a parallel release, and the benefits of playing it on switch 2 will be better graphics/load times?

I'm thinking Mario Kart as the main title. I thought the idea of it being the only release game was a bit silly tbh, but the more I think about the more I think it's a very Nintendo think to do. Then they'll just have switch ports/upscaled games maybe.

Pokemon Legends ZA for both Switch and Switch 2 like they did for Zelda, but maybe a month or so after the Switch 2 comes out.

Definitely Mario Kart since there hasn’t been an actual MK game since 8 on the Wii U that wasn’t mobile or required you you pay a lot for a toy kart which you are forced to use to play the game and is a nightmare to try to use if you live in a small house or apartment. It’s time that fans of the series got a proper new release. My other guesses are a couple of Wii U ports like Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD and an enhanced version of Kirby Rainbow Curse since the Kirby Wii games (minus the Kirby Collection) got ports on the 3DS and Switch. Rainbow Curse would work nicely with the Joy Con Mouse controller mode.

I definitely think that it will be some type of Mario game I feel like that is very on brand for Nintendo. I would love for them to have like two launch titles or a couple but more likely than not it will be Mario Kart like others have said. I would love for it to be a Zelda game again but since a new Zelda came out within the last year or two I don't see a new Zelda game being released. Animal Crossing I feel like will probably come out maybe a couple of months after the launch or early next year is what I would predict.

Honestly I won't lie I want them to release some ports of Zelda games with the switch 2.

I can definitely see a Mario Kart. I'm kind of hoping for Fantasy Life to be a launch title (but that is super wishful thinking); I just really want to play the game on the Switch 2 than my chugging Switch 1. 😭 Maybe Pokémon Legends: Z-A could be a launch title?

Maybe some ports/enhancements of Switch1 games plus the new Mario Kart, I see them waiting a bit after release for new games honestly.

Mario Kart 9 is a really safe bet. I wouldn’t have necessarily expected it if they hadn’t shown it with the console.

If they’re doing Switch 2 ports of Switch 1 games, instead of just enhancing the originals when played on Switch 2, then I can see them releasing some of those ports at launch.

As weird as it is maybe Yooka-Replaylee could be there because Playtonic kinda teased it already. I don’t know the situation around that game or the release date for other platforms tho.

Imo Pokemon is out because they aren’t good on the technical end.

Animal Crossing if they were smart, but that'd probably be a short development period. At least it wouldn't be very innovative.

Zelda also did a lot for the Switch originally of course, but a third installment on the same map would be unwanted.

Also we can't forget 1-2-Switch 2/Again, they need something to show off more hardware. Anything with minigames for the mouse controls.

Zelda I can see the Wii U HD remakes being ported over with even better graphics. I also think Kirby Rainbow Curse will also be ported and show off the mouse controls. It makes sense given how you play the game.
