Do you want us to be able to talk on Wi-Fi using the Switch's mic?

Many of you are well aware that one flaw New Leaf has is that the messages you type on Wi-Fi disappear quickly. Of course, typed messages to communicate with other players has been a feature since Wild World, although City Folk allowed for the Wii Speak to be used in order to talk to other players verbally. However, this feature wasn't carried over into New Leaf with the 3DS's mic. Would you want the Switch game to have microphone capability or no?

I never use and always mute any mic chat audio, so that's a hard pass from me

just implement a text chat log or something along those lines imo

In my opinion, if Nintendo is going to keep it text-only like New Leaf, then input for non-Western languages needs to exist. It's too difficult getting on the island with Japanese players who don't know English and there's no way to communicate with them. There's not Korean input either.

I dislike speaking, so I'm fairly neutral to this question. However, I would support the option for those who want it. What I would really like is some way of typing that isn't as tedious as their current system. If I remember correctly, City Folk had a feature where you could connect a computer keyboard to type with in-game. It would be great if they could make that an option again.

I hate voice chats and was also not a fan of the Wii Speak back then, so I prefer the text chat.

Would be nice, but the Switch doesn't have a microphone and not even the Pro controller has a headset jack, so options would be limited. Somehow I expect we'll be stuck with the voice chat app.

They'll probably have voice chat available through the mobile app like other Switch games, but not in-game.

I'd like to see them work on improving the text-chat instead. A chat log going back a few messages like Lambda said would be really helpful. Maybe some pre-written messages that can be easily tapped to send them? Just messages you commonly send for trading and online activities.

Oh and this too. It was definitely a thing, they could support that for docked play if they wanted.

I'm surprised I'm the only one that has voiced the issues I've had trying to communicate with players from Japan and South Korea. The keyboard NL has makes it just about impossible to unless the person can speak English or another Western language.

I'm not sure if I would like it. I'm used to the typing rather than speaking. Plus, I'm still sort of shy, so typing feels more comfortable to me.

They will probably want to keep using the Nintendo Switch phone app for voice chat, but I'd imagine that we would still be able to type as well, just to give us options.

I mean, communicating in transliterated romaji is a perfectly viable option

I do not think I would use the voice thing really; though having the option is nice.
I am all for regular typing again like the USB keyboard in City Folk.

I would love the idea of a voice chat option! For some reason people who play this game tend to be very introverted, so the use of the feature would be left for debate, but having it would be awesome. The text type thing in NL always made it a hassle.

I still want a text option but handled differently. Like having prewritten greetings or whatever that we can just choose to save time.

I know that there were prewritten greetings as well in City Folk, and I think those could be translated into other languages.

Yes, but unfortunately many Japanese can't read romaji, either...
