Do I even need to say anything?

There's nothing really to explain, is there? Of course some users would like the price of something to go down. It's not really much different than a thread titled "Petition to triple bell earn rate". Not much for me to say about it.

Some context on the group add-on though because I feel like there may be some misinformation going around -- it used to be 4200 Bells when the shop opened and intended to be extremely expensive requiring a large group pool of bells to afford it. You know, because it's a group add-on. Soon that became a very cheap add-on with inflation and increase of users over time, and the ones that were in stock in the store sold out. We left it un-stocked for a long time at this point because A) it was way too cheap now and we don't want there to be a mass of un-used groups B) in my opinion at least, the groups aren't really that useful to begin with. (as has been said in this conversation already)

Eventually we had a massive 'petition' thread like this one with over 250 posts, so we added a zero to the price making it 42000 as a sort-of joke and finally re-stocked some for those who really wanted them that badly. A few people did buy them who were the ones who wanted them so badly, and then nobody else did ever again.

Even with today's bell economy, I honestly think the price is fine for its intended purpose. If you can actually get 42 people to commit 1000 Bells to a group that they really want to exist and participate in, then you're golden. If you can't do that, then there probably isn't enough activity or desire for that group anyway. We already have plenty of graveyard groups and we certainly don't need anymore of them.

That being said... there are no plans to adjust any of the prices at this time. I'm not sure where this idea that the items don't have descriptions came from and none of the expensive items are essential to use the forum. You can save up for them as a perk if you really want them, or just don't have them if you'd prefer to spend your TBT on other things. Not to mention Seashells are a thing.

I reckon they are a bit pricey, especially the avatar animation. I mean I put off a user title colour change for like 2 years because I was too tight to spend tbt on it lol

So I say yay to petition

honestly, though it'd be a very long time before I bothered, I'd rather a petition to restock the small+purple mailboxes and 5 envelopes

A quick sentence or two from Justin would of been nice but I guess he is too busy to explain. Oh well...

He didnt exactly say no and we're still the majority. Atleast we now know who the oppressors secretly are :p

I mean you get 10 seashells when you join, then 10 more after 2 years, which is plenty enough to buy essentials like mailboxes/username changes. User title colours and avatar addons aren't really necessary imo, and act as nice perks that you have to save up towards if you want them.

Nothing on the list besides maybe the name change is really "necessary". The problem is that it's not clear what each do exactly. Heck we even got in a debate on why the mailboxs exist. A new person could join the forums and waste their shells on something like mailboxes or name changes and wouldn't be able obtain anything else (maybe after 2 long years of waiting...)

Maybe the solution is just to reward more seashells?

I never knew there were features like these, but I do think the prices should be toned down just a tad bit. New members are going to suffer this heavily as half of these are too steep.

That and the fact there really is no reason for them to be that expensive. The items are completely just for looks but their cost is insane. At this point we may have to start considering them rare collectibles xD

You know new members and members of 2+ years get access to 10 seashells, where they can purchase the animation for 10 seashells, or combo the extension with other stuff for 5 seashells.

I wonder if they will at least consider lowering the cost of groups. I know Justin rejects the idea of lowering the price of all add-ons.

I'll admit, I didn't realize that whole thing about the seashells but that doesn't change my mind. You gotta admit two years is way too long. New players have no idea what exactly each thing does. Might as well put it in big red words that things like the mailboxes are a waste of shells.

I really don't know man. I'm honestly beginning to think someone over at the admin side changed the prices and thought that changing them back would look bad. Honestly, if groups are gonna be 42k, they should just be removed completely. Heck why stop there, why not remove all account extensions.
There's no technical reason -- it's just part of the Bell economy feature. Of course these days that's far more centred around collectibles, but when the current version of the Shop and Bells were first introduced, we only had a single Cake collectible so it was more about unlocking upgrades! No different than the avatar extension or title color change.

Each item has a description of what it does so I really am not sure what you mean by this (and if someone is confused they generally make a post in this board or that "ask questions about the site" thread, at least from what I've seen). I spent a bunch of my shells on a bigger mailbox just because I'd already bought the avatar extensions years ago and didn't want a username change. P:

nah their prices are fine (aside from groups but who cares about those), plus with ac switch coming out it'll probably become easier to rack up tbt
