clothing your villager unexpectedly loved?

i have 2 for this list... the first is a green faux shearling coat i gifted cube as a nod to the upcoming cold weather. he absolutely adores it and wore it nonstop for three days straight. the second is a nonbinary pride sweater both walt and celia love, and i constantly see them wearing it

So I have the villager Beardo and wade. If you know Beardo he’s smug and he isn’t a very cute villager. But I normally give him stuff that’s cute, mostly pink stuff. He rocks it! My favorite piece is his cat hat. But he always is wearing something pink. Also Wade. When I first got him I gifted him a wedding dress, he looked beautiful. My mom thought that wade was A female! I also gave him like a green women tank. He wears it every day. I also gave him a shell dress. I love giving Beardo pink clothing and wade dresses. I totally thought they would never where that stuff but they where them the most!

I gave Peggy the Kerokerokeroppi Tank Top and she rarely wears anything else......but a pair of pants would be nice.

I gave Bones the beige sweater-vest as a gift for his birthday because I happened to have one and I like to give my male villagers semi-formal clothing with neckties.I didn't think he'd wear it as much as he does.

As a joke,I gave Joey that yellow plaid bandanna and he slapped it on immediately and still wears it fairly often.He kinda doesn't know what to pair it with,but I like that he's willing to experiment.

Angus loved the cavalier shirt I accidentally gave him. It turned out that he had gifted it to me so it made sense. He actually said something about being glad I was giving it back. I was relieved because I hate it when they display clothing in their homes instead of wearing it or throwing it into a wardrobe or whatnot.

I didn't give it to him, but one of my other villagers gifted Graham (a smug hamster) a pale green bath towel. I think it was either Fang or Genji maybe? I think I delivered it. Anyway, Graham seemed to really love it! He wears it quite often. I think it's rather creepy myself but also kind of hilarious to see him rocking the towel as he walks around our island.

I've gifted each of my villagers a college cardigan and a football jersey, and they seem to really like them. I also gifted them each a couple of Halloween costumes last year which they've worn throughout the year. They always comment on how I gave it to them and how much they love them.

I don't remember how I mistakenly gave this outfit to Rory but it is now one of his favorites.

I gave him an explorer outfit which looks great but he likes his options. So one day he's a buff adventurer and then on his day-off, he's a gardening granny.

I gave Marshall a pink hoodie thinking he'd look adorable with it and he hasn't taken it off. This was months and months ago so clearly he agrees with me.

Early days of the game when I was naive & thought the clothes will be easily replaced like in NL so I gave Muffy a gift from another villager (from Sherb I think) and turned out to be a yellow jester outfit. Which she loves. And have worn almost everyday, while ignoring and hanging up all the other cute purple dresses I gave her.

It pains my eyes everytime I see her but at least she's very visible from afar at night.

The other one is my friend who asked me to mail her some tube tops and after she opened her mail box, Flora talked to her and... she accidentally gave her the black tube top lol. I told her if FLora's standing under a streetlamp she kinda looks like a lady of the night

My friend had no success in replacing that top but now that Flora is temporarily on my island, she hasn't worn it. It's not in the recycling bin when she moved though, so time will tell if she'll wear that dreaded top once she returned to my friend's island lol.

I had this same problem with smug villager Colton and a purple bath towel wrap. He loved it and kept going around the island watering flowers in it. I had his amiibo so I finally just booted that Colton with a different amiibo and then invited him back. It was so annoying that talking to Isabelle didn't clear up the problem.

Oh my gosh! That is so funny but also creepy. What is it about smug villagers and the bath towel wrap?!

I have Graham's amiibo card, so I could move him out and move him back in, but I don't want to lose the friendship I've built up with him. I just have to put up with it, I guess. Glad you were able to resolve your problem, though! Luckily, Graham doesn't wear his as often anymore. Maybe I should try to give him a bunch of clothes to replace it. Weird that Isabelle doesn't really help with this issue.

I remember delivering the bath towel to him and thinking, "Why?! Just why?! Why did you do this to me, Fang?!" I think it was Fang who asked me to give it to him, but I can't remember for sure. Oh well.

A couple weeks after the game was released in March 2020, I gave my villager Sly a new shirt at night when he was about to go to bed. He changed out of his pajamas into the new shirt and then proceeded to give me his pajama shirt. I freaked out because I thought I had changed his pj outfit so I gave his pajama shirt back to him hoping he would change back into it (again this was when the game was new and I didn't know how things worked). He of course didn't change back but then decided to treat said pajama shirt as a regular shirt and it became his favorite outfit much to my dismay. He wears it literally every other day to this day (October 2021), and it feels like he changes into it on purpose when I have visitors over because he knows I hate it!!!! I think its so embarrassing lmaoo

gave julian the blue young noble shirt because he wouldn't wear the noble coat i gave him (which suited him MUCH better, might i add,) only to realize that the color is uncomfortably close to the color of the rest of his body & now i have to do a double take each time i see him

I don't remember how she got it originally (I since moved her out and back in and re-gifted it to her), but Goldie LOVED her yellow trucker-style hat and would wear it with everything. It was always so funny to me to see her in that hat and something like the yellow fairy dress.

I've given her more accessories so she has more to choose from, but seeing the trucker hat still makes me smile

I gave Hans this rainbow sweater completely by accident (I was supposed to give him a winter coat) and he wears it CONSTANTLY

I'm glad he likes it though cause I think he suits it every time I see him wearing it I am even more glad that he ended up with it.

Goose gifted Mint a baseball shirt, which she wears more often than anything else. The bright red contrasted against her green fur looks absolutely horrid.
