A somewhat technical question for users of both a Switch and Switch Lite console.

Since my partner is using our Switch console to play a downloaded version of ACNH on the main account, I've decided to purchase my own Switch Lite with with a physical copy of the game. This way we both can both play the game at the same time and enjoy our own private islands. After connecting the Switch Lite to our main Nintendo account I've created my own Nintendo account, and my own Switch Lite profile, just to be on the safe side. Don't want to risk overwriting the save-game of the Switch.

I'm now looking to introduce a second playable character on my island. What would happen if I were to use our main account to do so?

Would that work? Would that connect to the island of my partner? Would it overwrite the save-game on the Switch?
Would I have access to the online features through the main account?

I think I’m a tad confused, but yes, your partner can create a new character on his account on your Switch Lite. Since AC doesn’t do cloud saving / save merging across Switches, it will be an entirely separate character that lives on your island. I’m pretty certain this character can go online if his account has NSO, but I have not tried that yet. In theory, this could cause problems in the future if the cloud saving implementations interact between two devices like that, but it’s unlikely they’ll change the way that saving works that drastically.
