"Configuring" a collectible?

Can anyone tell me what this option does? Also, when gifting a collectible, it also gives me an option to "give the item to the person without any pre-defined configuration at all." What does this mean, exactly?

This really only applies to stuff like the username change, the color change, etc. You basically use it to change whatever it is that the collectible does to your specifications. This doesn't work with regular collectibles like feathers or birthstones.

Ah, I see. Thanks for answering! I guess that explains why clicking configure on a cake collectible didn't do anything. Makes me wonder why that button is next to all the items in your inventory, though.

I think it was just easier to make them all have it rather then go through and make only certain ones have it.
