Hey guys i received a digital art tablet for christmas and after taking a little time to learn some of the software i decide to draw a little something and i wanted some critiques and opinions from you guys. This took me about three hours. Thanks in advanced.

Try to avoid using shape tools. While they're simple and make a job easy, they do so at the cost of quality unless they're absolutely necessary such as with perfect orbs (eyes) or extended lines (like a really really long staff).

Aside from that there's not really much I can critique on due to your choice of style - it's very simplistic. I could say for you to focus on your shading and your coloring, which you should, but I think your main focus would be to add more complexity to your style so that you have more room to improve.

My suggestion would be to try drawing for a bit in a more realistic style. You don't necessarily have to always draw in this style, but it'll give you a better understanding for details such as proportions, anatomy, dynamics, etc, which will in turn make this style much more fleshed out for doing so.

id say to definitely practice more, because something like that shouldnt take 3 hours
you have a good color choice and your detail is good too even though your styles really simple

Other than what the people above have said, I would avoid outlining something in pure black or just using pure black in general. It detracts from the picture as a whole and makes it look disjointed. Try using lighter browns, grays, navy blues etc. when you outline.
