hello! so i was recently lent a tablet to see how i would get on with digital work, and after a little play i'm really enjoying it! i've been using paint tool sai mostly, and i wanted to just show a preview of something i've been doing so far. personally i'm finding drawing hair quite hard but the stabilizers on sai really help, (for half an hour i didn't know what they were and all my lines were wobbly and sad)

i would really appreciate any constructive criticism on this before i carry on with these digital arts c; (and also any coloring tips would be fabulous as that is proving to be a daunting task!)

thank you !!

oh wow, those eyes are gorgeous, well its gorgeous overall
im no superb artist so I cant give much critique but the face kinda points at the end - maybe it should be more roundish but idk, your art and its fabulous nonetheless! C:

thank u so much aw
and yes i agree on the chin ;> i will certainly fix that

I agree with Leila, the eyes are great and definitely draw the viewer in!
I'm not exactly sure what type of constructive criticism you're looking for because this is only a lined headshot!
(anatomy? technique? if you could be more specific, that might help. ^^ )
I would suggest being aware of the lack of neck and since you're new to sai, try to play around with the layers and brush styles (this should help you a lot with the hair if you prefer less CG and more a painterly feel to it which is what I'm getting from this example)
Coloring becomes much easier once you get the hang of layers and how to utilize their locking and effects.
Since you appear to have pen pressure on, I would look up different SAI brushes online or on tumblr to see if there's a style you like.
A lot of brushes have transparency properties, which allow you to use the pen pressure to make certain areas darker or lighter, so you don't necessarily have to search for the right colors to shade with!
I feel like generally, color is something that can't be taught and if anything, can be very stylistic. So just play around until you find what works for you!
Again, adorable stuff so far and good luck! I look forward to seeing your progress. :']

i've had a go at coloring since posting this and it's not as scary as i thought, i will definitely experiment with the transparency and shading you mentioned!
