So I made this icon edit on photoshop today, it looks terrible. (in my opioin) What do you guys think?

I don't know much about digital art but if you wanted a pink border I think you can use the paint bucket tool to get it filled in all the way and evenly.

I think it would be a lot easier to just find an image with a transparent background and use the fill bucket.

You brushed onto the background with pink. In terms of keeping out of the lines, you didn't do that great of a job (kind of like how a 3yr old cannot colour in the lines lol);;

Like a previous suggestion stated, try finding clean renders,and then you can just create a new layer > paint bucket > colour
Unless you want to do it without a render, you can always use a select tool and then fill it in after that way.
