Pokémon Crown Tundra Releasing October 22!

I really hope Altaria can learn the Air Slash TR. I have a shiny one from Gen 4 that I want to make into a special attacker.

Anyway, besides the new Regis and Kanto bird forms I don’t see myself going out of my way to hunt any other legendaries. But I would like the option to shiny hunt the Alola legends eventually though. I’m kinda nervous about that since it all seems to be den related.

I really hope there is more content in this DLC than isle of armor!

Looking forward to this! For some reason I thought it was coming out in late September, but at least October 22nd isn't far now. I also hope it feels a bit longer than Isle of Armor.

For those of you who have been waiting, the update to download the Crown Tundra DLC is finally here! I just downloaded it myself and I’m looking forward to playing through it soon.

Apparently you get a “Crown Pass,” which allows you to go to the Crown Tundra through Wedgehurst Station. I won’t spoil anything else. 🙃

Thank you for updating this! I was going to do it after I downloaded the update but didn't get to do that until right before I went to bed at 1:30 AM this morning. Then I fell asleep. lol! :ROFLMAO:

I can't really find anything detailing the co-op mode too well. Is it the same as the Dynamax raids or can you actually walk around and explore with friends?

Okay why didn’t y’all’s tell me that following Pokémon were added into the DLC that combined with Calyrex might push me to buying the DLC...

I played a bit of CT last night. Caught Suicune. Then I just went to Pokemon Home and imported a bunch of my legendaries and shinies that had previously been locked. The DLC is alright. But...just alright. It still costs too much for what it is. It would have been extremely helpful if the DLC added some new boxes to the PC also. I have literally no room left for anything. At this point, I'm forced to put Pokemon in my Home bank just to make room for shiny hunting and stuff.

As for the DLC itself...I was immediately turned off by the story being about other people again. Step one foot off the train, and I'm talking to a couple of people who I literally couldn't care less about. Ugh...this needs to end in the next gen. We don't need fifteen support characters in these games. These are supposed to be about forging your own path and becoming a master trainer. This is a trend that is definitely getting worse. My main trainer feels like an afterthought at this point.

I haven't had a chance to play the new DLC yet so I'm not sure how co-op works. I guessing part of it is jut the Dynamax Raids like before but we get to go further into the dens. I'm sorry I'm not more help.

It works like the other max raids as far as inviting friends. However you don’t use your own Pokémon. You get to pick one Pokémon at the start and you can switch them out between battles. You have the option to catch each Pokémon you battle but at the end you only get to keep one. For each battle you will choose what Pokémon type to battle against. Hope this explanation isn’t too confusing

I am really enjoying this Dynamax Adventure mode thingy. I've gotten really good groups so far (as far as the other players). Overall I'm enjoying this expansion's DLC a lot more than the last one. I also like that you can be doing all 3 quest lines at once and if you want to switch to doing another one for any reason, you can.

I think the crown tundra is wayyyyyy better than the isle of armor, but there is also lots of room for improvement.

I'd give the Isle of Armor a C-, just barely passing (if 69/F and below was failing). It scraped by just doing the bare minimum, which was giving us a new area to explore with one new "storyline" and one new legendary Pokemon. But it was super short and only took about an hour to complete, and once you were done there was literally nothing else to do. The quality of the "story" itself was also very poor and uninteresting. The player was directed to go from point A to point B to point C, with no freedom or incentive to explore the area or do anything else both during and after the story was completed.

The crown tundra in my opinion is a solid B. It gave us a new area with multiple quests which were more interesting and engaging. Plus once you completed the 3 main quests (each with about 3 parts), you could participate in dynamax adventures to catch 40+ legendary pokemon from past games. Even if you already have all of these legendary pokemon, there is a 1 in 300 chance that it will be a shiny (1 in 100 if you have the shiny charm) which is amazing odds. Going back to the "story," it was an overall improvement from the last DLC because it let the player choose which of the three main quests (plus the additional Sonia quests) they wanted to complete first. Additionally, these quests were spread out within the new region so you could complete them at your own pace while freely exploring the area. They were also pretty interactive since you yourself had to complete them alone, unlike the Urshifu story which felt like everything was just given to you. There are also some hidden features/additional content (Spiritomb, Ultra beasts, Galar Star tournament) that the player can discover once the 3 main quests are completed. All of this reminds me a lot of the older games, and I wish the main "story" of Galar was more like this.

The hours I've spent playing each DLC says it all - I only played the Isle of Armor for about 1 or 2 hours the day it was release before closing the game and playing something else. But I've been playing the Crown Tundra every free moment I have for the past 4 days (since release). Overall it offers more content that is better quality than the Isle of Armor. But like I said there is still room for improvement. For example, I think adding trainers to the Crown Tundra's "wild area" could have been helpful to pace players (so they don't just zip through the area), and adding maybe 2 more little towns as more buffers/barriers could also have been fun. When I think about fun post-games, I remember Sinnoh's Battle resort/island area and Heatran, and also the deoxys story from omega ruby/alpha sapphire. I think the crown tundra is a step in the right direction, but a lot more work needs to be done to improve the quality of recent Pokemon games.

Some of these max raid battles are a huge pain, man. I know they're legendary Pokemon that are supposed to impose a challenge...but, the format is such that it's really a lot of luck whether or not you can get the Pokemon with the stats and moves that you need to stand a chance. I mean...complete form Zygarde is just...sigh. With the help of other people, maybe it's not so bad...but I'm over here trying to go it solo, and it ain't happening. Lol.
