I just wanted to show you guys what ive been doing lately.

Around two years ago I had to collect, identify, mount, dry and donate 20 different families of insects with 3 representatives of each family, giving a total of 60 insects.

However when collecting you end up with duplicate families and with some insect you cant use because they broke or they are not adult, so I ended up with a lot of insects without a real use.

Today i decided to get some resin and give them a nice use.

I made an improvised workstation.

Made a really quick test with a Scarabeidae. Theyre fairly common around here. didnt turn up quite good.

The mounting progress takes too much time because it requires the insect to dry. This was unusable for my collection as it has a broken leg and its not an adult. (its a Coreidae nymph, in case anyone is wondering)

Final result, i was expecting something worse.

I also encapsulated a flower to see the results. It lost colour. In case anyone is wondering its Asclepias curassavica.

Hope you enjoyed! once i get the hang of it ill post more insects. I also have some spiders...

Oh my goodness these are freaking amazing! I've loved bugs my entire life. If you ever manage to capture a wolf spider and encase it let me know! Or a bark scorpion :) I'll totally save up my money to buy them from you and bask in the glory of horrifying all the other insects in my vicinity lmao

I always loved the little bugs in resin. They used to sell them at the fairs we'd have in my town but the guy who sold them stopped because I guess he used to buy them in bulk from a company that was closing. =[ I am going to start using resin soon and have been watching a lot of videos and stuff and some suggestions I have would be to tap out the bubbles and pop them or go over the top with a lighter to pop them so it can have a better clarity. I think you can also buff resin to make it more clear as well.

For a first go though these are amazing. I hope to eventually make my own gauges because I only have one ear gauged and it's kind of silly having to buy a pair when I only need one.

ALSO like with the guitar one (I can't tell on the larger beetle) It would probably be best to lay a thin "base" of resin to set the insect on so it's feets get fully encased as well.

I could totally do that, actually wolf spiders or Lycosidae are ffairly common and grow to gargantuan sizes. I only have small is ones tho. Also im not sure about how different the mounting process for arachnids is. ALSO im not sure about how legal is it to sell these.
