If you have no Internet connection or the nintendo online subscription, you'll have to make all the custom designs yourself in the game. You make them in the custom designs app on your nook phone. You can unlock more clothing patterns by buying the pro designs with nook miles. You can make paths to lay down or square designs to hang on the walls. You can also use the patterns to customize some furniture with it
