Data Corrupted. .___.

Hai! I don't mean to necro this post or anything, but periodically i've been looking on information regarding corrupt towns in hopes to someday restore my town. I'm sure my villagers miss me T^T

But, I wanted to post because I wanted to sharethat my town became corrupt after 200+ hrs invested in it, and NOT by meddling with the DS power while it was saving. I have a physical copy and I rarely turned off the DS, so every morning after 7am whether I turned the game from sleep mode while outdoors in my village, or if left a house, the game would automatically save. On one of those instances I did precisely that.. I'd spend time at my house sometimes simply listening to my K.K. music collection, and when I stepped out of my house my game started saving automatically -- except it never stopped saving and it gave me an error asking me to restart X_X since it stopped responding after a while I restarted it. When I tried to load my town Isabelle warned me that the town should be deleted because it's corrupt. It was so depressing! So i've been checking periodically in the rare hopes that I can restore it............ maybe.
If not I was considering purchasing another copy and leaving this one as a relic. Though the idea of starting over just has a bitter taste after all the time I had invested! But I'm missing the October events and Jack........ I've been trying to forget about it by breeding in Pokemon. T_____T

TLDR: Not interrupting saves does not guarantee that the save will not be corrupted. It's best to maintain best habits of patiently waiting without meddling with the power, but for all you know it could all go bonkers one day

I'd probably switch to Pokemon myself if my town corrupts...

If I lost my town I'd stop playing.. at the current time I've put 111 hours into it. Not willing to start a fresh.. no way on Earth.

It's scary how so many people have had this happen on BOTH physical and digital copies. T.T No version is safe...

I dunno if I could restart my town... I've put almost 500 hours into it and I'd be devastated if I lost my current town.

I feel so bad , we should all complain to Nintendo ! Animal Crossing New Leaf need a data save backup as every other game has ! Nintendo doesn't understand how much time ac mayors spend playing this awesome game ..... we need also an update to fix bugs & ect ... and would be cool to add more features to the game , but I really hope they will add a save data backup for ac :'3 good luck with your new town if u need anything just ask , I can give 1m bells as a starter

I can't imagine what it would be like if that happened to me....I would probably cry and my 3DS would not survive the ordeal. I know you said not to be sorry, but I am.... you poor thing...

Sorry about your lost. I had a similar experience, too.

I was once visiting a town. When I was done trading, I was on board going home. Then the system started to "save" automatically. But then, it said "data corrupted" and could not save. Then the next thing I know was that I was back to my town, checked my bag, all the traded items were gone. I emailed the person I went to trade with, the items were neither in her plaza. So, all those items were gone!! Until this day, I still don't know what happened?

Well, compared to you, I guess I am still considered lucky. I still have my town.

I honestly have no idea. I have the AC 3DS so mine is a digital copy and one day I turned it on and the square that usually has NL in it was blank. I turned the DS off and on and it wasn't showing up and I was FREAKING out so I took it to GameStop and they restored my 3DS which brought the game back but wiped all my data. :c

I still don't know how or why it happened in the first place.
