Good afternoon! (Anyone get the title reference?) I haven't had much time today to tend to my mayoral duties, as I have some other business to attend to. However, I can report what I have accomplished. Starting off the day, I had three letters. The first was from Buck, inviting me to his birthday party on April 4th! Man, I sure have a lot of birthdays clustered all together. I'll look into finding him a gift sometime this week. My second letter was from Lolly, thanking me again for coming to her birthday and giving her such a nice gift. I don't remember what the gift was that she enclosed, but I do recall that I didn't have it in my catalog until then. I've always thought it was rather unnecessary for friends to send you gifts in return for a birthday present; seems sort of counterintuitive to me. My last letter was from Whitney, telling me how she wished she could start a blog for her musings and recipes, but cannot use a computer and therefore will have to send them out via letter instead. ...Are you hinting at something, Whitney? I suppose that proves my suspicion that Buck has gone around telling everyone that he got to guest star on my blog and now everyone wants in on it too.
After that, I set out on my walk and found all but one fossil and a few stray flowers. I noticed that I'm beginning to create a rut behind my row of cedar trees that border the eastern cliff, so I may have to start planting some flowers down the edge. I was thinking white cosmos, since they look rather nice around cedar trees and I don't have cosmos anywhere in my town. I don't really know why; I guess because they just seem kind of straggly to me, unless there's something that they really look good around.
Midway through my stroll Deirdre ran over again. She did not suggest any PWPs, unfortunately, but only told me that she was looking into getting a new pet and asked what kind I think would be best for her. I suggested a hedgehog, and she agreed that a hedgehog would be cool, despite the fact that she doubted it would patch her clothes for her. Deirdre used to never ping me unless she wanted to move, so I guess this means we're making progress. I spoke to her a bit later and she told me how much she loved potatoes for their versatility. She asked me how I like to eat my potatoes, and agreeing with her point, I said I couldn't decide. I do love potatoes just about any way.

I saw Becky out roaming around and decided to see if she was up to trouble. She told me that she found something Chief had lost, so I went to return it to him. It turned out to be a Cherry Tee that he had, apparently, left at her house. It seems that villagers often go over to visit someone and end up leaving clothes behind... I'm just going to assume that I know Chief would never stoop so low. Not with Becky. Anyway, he gave me a Blue Cabinet in return, which I also did not have in my catalog. When I went to sell my findings at Re-Tail, I dropped it off with Cyrus to refurbish to Light Blue for my upstairs Princess Room.
After I told Becky I had returned his shirt, she told me that every time she eats ratatouille, it reminds her of her childhood. That makes sense, considering Ratatouille is a children's movie. And to be honest, I wasn't even aware that it was a real thing. Ratatouille is essentially the only Pixar movie that I have not seen, so I suppose it's reasonable that I know nothing about it. Either way, I do not think it sounds appetizing.
I found Lolly wandering about the hybrid breeding field with her watering can and we had a little chat. She told me that she really appreciates Fang and that she loves how he's so easy to talk to. That was really great to hear. Ever since Fang moved in, I have never seen him out wandering around town. He's either been at the cafe, in a shop, or somewhere I can't ever find him. I was beginning to worry about his place in our town, but if Lolly really likes him then I have no reason to fear he isn't fitting in. I guess he may still need time to adjust to a new place.
The orange trees I planted around his house are fully grown and look nice, so I believe I will keep them. I think I'm going to try to plant a few sweet-olive bushes as well and branch a path off to route over to him.
Later I stopped in Wart Jr.'s to see how he was doing. He asked me if I could catch a spider for him, and I agreed even though I know they're very difficult to catch. I only have a select few trees to shake that aren't fruit trees, so I went around and checked them all. I found nothing but a jukebox, a crane game, 300 bells, and two beehives. I ended up getting stung once, so I bought some medicine at T&T to fix my face right up. Needless to say, Wart Jr. gets no spider.
Redd's tent was set up today, so I stopped in to browse his selection. The only painting there I didn't immediately recognize was a Wistful Painting, so that's the one I bought. I could already have it in my museum, as I can't distinctly remember the paintings that my villagers have sold to me. Regardless, I bought it anyway and I'll see how it turns out tomorrow.
Now for my obligatory Roost update. I didn't have one yesterday as I was ultimately focused on Lolly's special day, and I was going to include my results in today's post, but I lost the draft in my phone I had listed them on so any progress I made yesterday is gone now. x) Oh well. I'm beginning to lose track of who's come in and who likes what, so I may need to take a separate post one day just to consolidate all of my figures. Or I may just do that in a document on my computer. I dunno.
Anyway, Deirdre was my first customer today and I didn't believe I had ever served her before so everything was a guess. Everything I guessed was wrong, so therefore Deirdre does not like blend coffee, a regular amount of milk, or one sugar.
Cole the black bunny was next, and being an out-of-towner her told me that he liked the blend roast with no sugar. So that meant no milk, and he was satisfied.
Anabelle was next, straight, I assume, from Hollowyn. Stitches must have put in a good word for me over there. I was tempted to encourage her to make a move with Antonio, but I wasn't entirely sure it was my place to say anything. She ordered a Kilimanjaro coffee with a little bit of milk, so I added one sugar and she was good to go.
Isabelle was last, and I was certain I had narrowed her roast preference down to Blue Mountain, but apparently I made an error in my calculations. Though she likes a lot of milk, I knew. One sugar wasn't right, so if I am correct in assuming that means she doesn't like any sugar, I should have that right next time.
I had ordered the first expansion to Lily's east wing yesterday, so the Caucus Race room has enough space to maneuver around. I'm going to order the final expansion for the west wing today, since I'd like to include the remainder of my Mush series in there. It doesn't look too natural in the room as it is right now, so hopefully some more space will allow it to look better.
