Phew! Another late-ish post today; But not because I haven't played much this time. I've done a heck of a lot today. Wouldn't have it any other way on my one year anniversary as Mayor of Storrs! Disappointingly, there was no ceremony or recognition whatsoever. So instead, I used my power to do something special for this, the first day in my second year as Mayor.

First of all, I woke up this morning. I felt like wearing my 'sailor outfit' today, as I figured it would help remind me to make a trip to the island a bit later. Seeing I already had my tools in hand, I left home and checked my mail. I had my delivery from Redd containing the Valiant Statue I had ordered yesterday. I also had a letter from Felicity saying that she really wanted to try a new hairstyle but was afraid that no one would recognize her fabulousness if she changed.
I took off on my usual route, digging up any fossils and watering any wilted flowers along the way. The first thing out of the ordinary was the tent in the campsite; I dropped in to see who might be enjoying the sights of my town today, and it turned out to be Violet the Gorilla. If I'd just seen the name and not the face, I would have pictured a very adorable little purple animal that I could really come to love. I would never have been so wrong. Violet introduced herself and told me that she may even consider moving to Storrs. Never have I been so thankful to have all of my villager spots filled.
Next, I noticed a dig-spot in front of Mitzi's sign and, trying to position myself to clear it, fell in. I wasn't too embarrassed; It was either that or throw the pitfall seed in the trash anyway. And I was all too happy to take the hit instead of Mitzi.
Just across the river and around the bend, Wart Jr. ran over to me. He told me that he had been considering his catchphrase and asked himself, "Self, should I be saying 'fribbit'?" I assured him that it makes him sound cool, and he was satisfied enough to hear that.
Continuing on, I eventually ran into Lolly. She said that she'd been having this dream for a while about a ruby, and I just happened to have what she wanted. She offered me 3,600 bells, which I was all too happy to take for it.
Back across the river, I found Deirdre in between her house and Lolly's. She informed me that the other day she accidentally ate a totally rotten apple and couldn't manage to get the foul taste out of her mouth. To counteract this, she suggested I go out and get her a real apple, which may help. I agreed to help her out, even though she was literally right next to the nearest apple trees.

I ran to the first one just above and shook an apple down, Deirdre all the while looking on. I could have just tossed it to her from where I stood, but I took the two steps over to her instead. She gave me a Lovely Vanity in return for my HARD work.
I made it through the rest of my patrol unimpeded, and set off towards Main Street and the Museum. En route, I saw that Fang had set down on the bench and dozed off. Awww.

I left him to rest for a minute before thinking he might appreciate being woken up. He did, not denying to tell me that sometimes, you just gotta remember to take a little break now and then.
At the museum, I thought I would submit my Valiant Statue first. That way, if it was fake I could have my fossils appraised and still leave with my dignity. Sure enough, the statue was fake. But by the time Blathers had discerned that my four fossils were fantastic, I doubt he even remembered my failure.
I dropped the statue in the trash on my way to sell my inventory. After I'd emptied my pockets, I returned to the breeding field to collect the new hybrids that had spawned overnight: A purple pansy, purple rose, pink rose, and orange cosmos. I planted the purple pansy over by Becky's, where three had been stolen, and the rest in their respective clusters down on the beach.

Then I quickly ran up to do my routine shopping. I bought a couple new paper packs, Manor Wall, and Lemon Gingham Shirt for my catalog. At Nook's, I ordered a Fairy-Tale Mailbox. I need to hurry and get those theme points so I can revert back to what I actually like on and in my house.
That being done, I made a quick stop by the Roost. Felicity was at the bar and, after telling me that she should invest in coffee-based beauty products to perk her skin up, mentioned that she likes two sugars in her coffee. Duly noted.
Fang was my first customer and I expertly served him his blend coffee with lots of milk and three sugars. Second was Becky, whose usual is The Regular, which I fixed for her. Purrl was back again from Hollowyn, and I gave her her Kilimanjaro with no milk and sugar. Last was Dr. Shrunk, and I'm pretty convinced that I'll never figure out what he wants. I gave him a mocha, which I am certain that he likes, with no milk and one sugar. That was what I had thought I'd narrowed him down to, but apparently there were some errors somewhere in my calculation.
Everything that needed to be done being done, I could get away for a bit and chill on the Island. Except, on the way, Wart Jr. called me over and asked me to catch a river fish for him. I did, and he rewarded me with a Tan Dogtooth Shirt, a new addition to my catalog. Then I made it down to the dock.
On the island, I purchased a Cabana Wall Radio and Snorkel Mask for my catalog. No hibiscus starts again, unfortunately. Hopefully tomorrow. I checked with Mrs. Kapp'n to see what tours were available today, and opted for the Official Hide-and-Seek tour. I successfully found Zucker, Nate, Daisy, and Renee, stashing away any white roses and cosmos I could find on the way. After that, I thought I'd do one more and chose to go fishing for some sharks. I managed to catch 8 in six minutes, for which I was rewarded a gold award and 15 medals.
Now, since yesterday the girls of UConn won their tenth (and third consecutive!) National Championship, today is the day they will bring the trophy home. In honor of that, I did a little updating to the Development Center trophy room.

NOW the 10 on the basketball jersey can stand for something.
With the creation of that design, a flood of ideas washed into my mind. I'd thought for a while that I should center the half of my town north of the river around UConn, and the southern half around Wonderland. For the most part, I have, but I was always missing this certain distinguishing factor. Today I ended up making a new pathway for my Connecticut side and spent most of my day laying it out.

What do y'all think? I still have the brick path saved, so I can change them out whenever I feel like it. Basically, I wondered what it would look like if I made a tile version out of the 2013 Husky design. It turned out really well, I thought, but it didn't look good being the ENTIRE path. So I took a stepping stone design I found on the internets and fixed it up a bit to mesh with my design. Checkered them out like so, and then converted my waterway designs to gray instead of the brick color that they were before.
By this point, I was tired and ready to retire my game for the day. So tomorrow I will route my Wonderland path through the rest of the southern half of town, since I only have a little bit of it in the southeast corner right now. I have a new path saved that I'd like to change it to soon, but there are no corner pieces for it so it looks like I'm going to have to design those myself.
Sorry for another long post! Today was just a busy day.
